For those blessed with a sense of humor Africa is a great place!

The Africa challenge really was something to write home about.  Who would have thought it possible to go through Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia in two days (and still find time to have a picnic at Vic Falls! Which was awesome I might add!). We were so blessed in that we raised the money we had to raise for the challenge before 10:00 the first morning!

Left Behind

It might be seen as negligent, irresponsible, bad luck, poor admin. We see it as God's divine intervention and an answer to the prayers of little warriors. We were informed that Margot's India visa had expired and she couldn't travel South with the rest of the team and Yellow decided to stick together and stay with our little Miss Prosch. Saturday morning at 6am we waved goodbye to the rest of the team. If you picture 5 sad little faces as a bus pulls away you are wrong. We were half awake and still in bed as they said their goodbyes....

Eu te bendirei ó senhor

“You give and take away, You give and take away…
My heart will choose to say Lord, Eu te bendirei”

Gods plan… it´s perfect.
His will… it´s perfect.
His timing, it´s… perfect?

Knowing God through the Creation

Knowing God through the Creation
What makes me feel most alive in life is sunsets and sunrises. It tells me the most about God. It sais He is the creator and that He is very creative. No sunset or sunrise will ever look the same as He decorates the sky with the most extraordinary colours and clouds and scenery under it. It's unique and beautiful, and still God created man and woman and only then creation was complete and "very good". It amazes me how each and every person is more precious than a sunrise or sunset to God. It's constant and trustworthy, just like...

Moving, Changing, New Beginnings - China

Moving, Changing, New Beginnings - China
My time in China started a bit different than some of my other team members. The moving crew  (Me, Madelein, Miga and Coetzee) helped our contact's family to move to a new house for the first five days. We had so much fun, but worked really hard. We actually got "elevator lack", because we went from one building's 10th floor to the other building's 5th floor every day with heavy boxes, in an elevator. Up and down, up and down ! But yes, we are Global Challengers, we can overcome anything... why?? Cause we have Jesus on our sides people !...

The New works of the Spirit

The Centrality of the Holy Spirit We see that the Holy Spirit was absolutely central to everything the apostles did in the book of Acts. Nothing could be done without the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit and this was always the one ingredient they were looking for. At Pentecost it was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that created a wave of miracles and also Peter boldly standing up and preaching. Later on in Acts chapter 8 we see that even though people had given their lives to Jesus through the evangelism of Phillip the first thing Peter...

Church at the crossroad

Church at the crossroad
A crossroad is a place where you are forced to stop, reassess and consider the direction you are going. Our team's time at the church in Al Mafraq, which means crossroads, was such a time. Each one of us stood at a crossroad. We had time to stand still, take in the view (which was beautiful by the way) and consider which way we are going. God used this time to lay foundational truths in our hearts. He took each one of us on an adventure in finding our identity as His children, depending on Him and drawing closer in...

Hello Hong Kong!

Well, it’s been half a day in Hong Kong and I’m just astounded at everything I see around me: huge malls, massive buildings with nature at the backdoor and LOTS of people going about with their daily lives as we all do…

A taste of every country so far...

As our halfway mark, here is a   bit(e) of every country Northbound have visited so far 2013...    #1 Momos ... NEPAL Our time in Nepal mostly consisted out of house fellowships with fellow believers. In Kathmandu we met some amazing people, had some good payer walks praying for the people an the country, spending time with boys at a children home teaching them some African songs, ministering at different churches and just encouraging the "lights" in that city. In Pokhara we spent some time distributing tracks to unreached tribes; sharing Gods love with the people there; climbing some...
