Turkey - confronted by blessings

On the fourth of march we arrived in Istanbul, a city with about 10 million people. By God's grace we found a very cheap hostel right in the centre between the famous mosque "Hagia sophia" and the sea (Bosporus)! Already at this place we experienced the hospitableness and kindness of turkish people, just amazing! A week later we arrived in Izmir. For the first time in my life I saw Christian believers worshipping God in an underground church! An incredible experience! So many different nations, but all having the same father! A completely filled church! A lot of joy!! Our...

Missing Mexico

The worst part about traveling is knowing you will never be the same after leaving the place you were in. In some cases, you leave a piece of your heart behind, along with the people you've met. This was one of those cases. Mexico, you have completely changed my perspective of what it means to fall in love with a place. When I think back on our time in Mexico, I don't see places, I don't see the beach or the shops or the thousands of tacos that we ate. I see the faces of people that I met and...

Shaking the foundation's of my Faith

IMG-20180209-WA0017
Charles C West once said “We turn to God for help when our foundation's are shaking, Only to learn that it is God who is shaking them”  In Luke 10 Jesus sends out the 72 Disciples before Him to go to the towns in faith without any extra belongings except the clothes they have on them and trust the Lord.  During my Luke 10 experience God shook my foundations in such a way that I got a shock of how little faith I have in Him. I learned that God is a God that provides for his children when stepping...

Gloria Deus in Brasil

Gloria Deus in Brasil
Lush green jungle, mountains, waterfalls, hummingbirds and big blue butterflies. This was the setting of our first ministry point in South America. Our mission in Itatiaia was the fulfilment of a vision God gave Mariana Adolpho 10 years ago: to build a prayer room on the mountain where people from all over the world could come and spend time with God. There is a big witchcraft influence in the area and hotels and houses ran empty as a result. During our time there we helped to build the prayer room, painted the house in bright, life giving orange and yellow...

My adventure through the land of many waters

Guyana, it's jungles stretch out as far as you can see in every direction. The land of many waters is true to its name, from the rivers and creeks flowing in every direction, to the lakes hidden deep in the Amazon Jungle. It really is a beautiful country. The church where we were located is a part of "Full Gospel Fellowship" which has a collection of over 150 churches across Guyana. We were privileged to have the never ending jungle stretch out behind our house, and a smooth, very skate-able roads to the front. The community where we...

The deeper end of God’s grace

220d1247-1def-4891-9c4b-6fa9160bccb8
There is a grace that washes us clean, transforms our hearts, and challenges us to love deeply even when it seems too difficult. God first extended this grace to us through His Son, Jesus, as He took on our sins and willingly gave His life to reconcile us. We live in this grace everyday- it has become apart of our stories with God and testifies of His power in our lives. As God first extends this grace to us, He then invites us as His children and His heirs to extend this grace to each other. His grace is part...

Turkey

It must have been quite a sight for the locals to see 9 South Africans and 1 Canadian (Danica’s mom and grandparents had arrived a few days earlier) eagerly scanning the crowd at the IST airport. An even bigger sight must have been seeing us all suddenly push our way to the front to greet 22 parents, grandparents and friends. Slowly we made our way to the train that (after over 10 stops) would take us back to our hotel. Somehow all 36 of us with all our baggage managed to squish onto the train and arrive safely at our...
