Timeless Cuba

Cuba will be remembered as a country caught up in the past. Movie scene streets, 60c ice cream, classical old model cars and hearts warmer than the street pizza on offer. We were served like kings by the dearest Cuban family, struggling to put food on their own tables. Blessed with our daily Ola! and a warm smile we had our daily hot chocolate and bread before starting the day. Cuba opened my eyes to see what luxury we actually live in back home. The mere thought of running water when you open the tap now makes me want to...

Downunder

Wide open spaces, a strange, familiar landscape, country music playing " loud-az"  in their "utes" (utility vehicle). Strange accents with words that take a while to get up to tabs on. When someone would ask or tell you something enough times, you stop asking, "what" and just say, "yeap".    This island of a continent is Australia and is largly underestimated! It is our saving grace for the year as we would need to work with sheep on farms to pay the for the rest of the year's travels.    On our arrival in Sydney we where organized a place...

The deeper end of God’s grace

220d1247-1def-4891-9c4b-6fa9160bccb8
There is a grace that washes us clean, transforms our hearts, and challenges us to love deeply even when it seems too difficult. God first extended this grace to us through His Son, Jesus, as He took on our sins and willingly gave His life to reconcile us. We live in this grace everyday- it has become apart of our stories with God and testifies of His power in our lives. As God first extends this grace to us, He then invites us as His children and His heirs to extend this grace to each other. His grace is part...

SURPRISE!

ljss.jpgThe other day, I started thinking about how sad it would be to come all the way to South Africa and not see my great friends Lana and Jacques from the World Race.  Since they live about a 2 hour plane ride away, Kim had already told Lana and Jacques that I wouldn’t make it down there.  However, Kim and I devised a plan to surprise them.

Love keeps us up

I love growing closer to my father this year and truly see his amazing love. There is no sweeter name then that of Jesus. The love he gives is beyond compare and set fire to your heart and spreads like wild fire supping from the main source if the father heart. something that truly girpped me on the journey so far is how easy it is to love and care for people who share the same spirit. The unity that forms between Gods children is unique. An instant conecction is made and understanding, exitment and love is shared. Fellowship.   ...

Turkey

It must have been quite a sight for the locals to see 9 South Africans and 1 Canadian (Danica’s mom and grandparents had arrived a few days earlier) eagerly scanning the crowd at the IST airport. An even bigger sight must have been seeing us all suddenly push our way to the front to greet 22 parents, grandparents and friends. Slowly we made our way to the train that (after over 10 stops) would take us back to our hotel. Somehow all 36 of us with all our baggage managed to squish onto the train and arrive safely at our...

Be a LIGHTHOUSE

Lighthouse = A building that emits light in times of darkness Every year the kids of GLA go on a camp according to their team colours. This year I accompanied the orange team to Oyster Bay and Oyster Bay is such a beautiful place! It was a good time for me to rest after an interesting week, because the previous week I would sum up as hard and challenging but there was still a lot of good moments, moments to treasure. After it ended many had tears of relieve and joy, I was just happy because it was over. The...

The Ultimate Beginning!!

This is the ultimate beginning where we are where God wants us to be....
God has a specific plan for each of us this year, each a unique plan, because we are the body with different functions. The last few days we have had intense training on pride, the 2 kingdoms and other topics that I wish all can have. I believe that we are here for a reason.  We are the next group that will make a difference in the world.

Thailand!

Gotta love technology, I cannot upload my pictures, anyway, here it is! With India still fresh in our memories the Northbound team arrived in Bankok, Thailand. The contrast was unmistakable. Coming from a place where the street is used as a bathroom and to this clean place where the suffucientcy of the , there is a Seven Eleven around every corner and the trafic lights have a countdown timer! We spent two days de-briefing our India experience and had some time off just to rest and to get ready for our next ministry point. Out team split into two groups,...
