Adventure in Istanbul

Adventure in Istanbul
Once again I realised that God blessed us with accommodation near the tourist attraction sites. Every country. This time we stayed about 300m from the Hagia Sofia. This is really close to The Blue Mosque.During our time here we were completely tourists. Could not go into all the tourist places, but we could go to them and take a photo just to say that we were there. That is my goal if it is not possible to enter. We had amazing times in the Word of God and enjoyed ourselves in presenting scriptures to each other in creative ways. I learned...

Brazil in retrospect

As I am writing this We are on a shuttle on our way to Bonfim which is on the border of Brazil and Guyana. We just got of the boat a few days ago and starting traveling towards Guyana. This is where we leave Brazil and all its diversity. As I look out the window it has the feel of deep Africa. Dry and open. A big contrast to the Amazon we experienced a week ago. That goes for the cities in Brazil as well. Diverse. So many cultures and different ways of doing things. It is a ever changing landscape...

Places, People, Progress...

Places, People, Progress… So, I am really guilty of being so slack with writing more blogs (this is only my second one) and SO MUCH has taken place since my last post that it’s almost overwhelming with what to share and where to begin. (There’s a lesson in here I am sure) So here goes… PLACES:  We left sunny South Africa on 3 March 2016 and headed for Israel with such excitement. The Explore Africa Team vibe was electrifying and so full of joyous anticipation. Oh Israel… God’s beloved and chosen nation, what an absolute privilege and blessing it was...

The Police have been watching us very closely since the day we arrived in Mainland China...

They check our passports everywhere we go.  Before we climb on a train, at the internet caf閽s and the moment we arrive in a new town.  They keep on saying it抯 for our protection.  In small towns it抯 the worst! At some places they send police 搖ndercover?in casual wear, to the same hotel抯 we stay at, to watch our every move.  Luckily they are very friendly and some wanted to learn more about our culture.  At one stage it really got to me.   I was so irritated with them and got so frustrated when they follow us every where we...

Our own little Luke 10

The team was now gone somewhere in Senegal on their Luke 10 which left Detlef and myself alone back in Dakar. Because of Morocco being so expensive we were very short of funds. In fact we almost had no funds left at all. Which brought us to the conclusion that we would have to go on our own little Luke 10 as well.   Of course there was the infamous Bamako Express. A train running on a piece of track from Dakar to Bamako, Mali dating back to the colonial era. Stories of the train varied from horrifying to...

Andes Mountain Adventures - April

Andes Mountain Adventures - April
The Andes Mountains – Peru The past month we spent the majority of our time in the Andes Mountains.  We met up with missionaries from South Africa and we traveled into the mountains with them and three other local evangelists.  The aim of the trip was to travel to smaller, unreached villages and to spread the good news of Jesus to the locals through preaching, the acting of dramas and distributing approximately 3000 New Testament bibles.  We did allot of walking/hiking, because most of these villages are very hard to reach due to the rain season and the lack of...

Mind faked

Knowing God means being exposed to supernatural knowledge and deeds. I cannot believe I was so blind to think any of this could be boring? But then again i could not see without Him opening my eyes. So if you are reading this and you do not understand or you think God is boring, just do yourself a favor and ask for ears to hear and eyes to see. It is not a worldly experience. Of course it is not because God is not an earthly being. He is not what we have made Him to be. His ways are...

It's a question of faith

Faith is to believe something without having the evidence to prove it.

What happens  when you ask God to strenghen your faith? sukses.jpgHe gives you doubt...and a whole lot of it.  It is much harder to keep on believing when every brain cell keep on screaming, " you are nuts to believe this!
