Home away from home

Before I enter a new country I have this picture in my mind about what to expect and what life will be like in that country. New Zealand, as the first first-world country we visited, I imagined to be be this perfect life. I imagined strongholds way different than Asia. Strongholds like materialism and money. But what I experienced in New Zealand was more than just that. New Zealand was a home away from home. We were blessed with a week at Algie's Bay to focus on debrief and to spend time with God. We were welcomed with so much...

Northbound in Pamukkale...

Northbound in Pamukkale...
STATUS- Strengthened , Tested, Amusing, Trustworthy, Unique and Social- these are some of the words we feel describes Northbound 2014... Since our last check in, we have throughly enjoyed our time in Pamukkale and have recently, as in yesterday arrived here in Kusadasi, where we will be spending the next six days. Throughout Turkey we have experienced the wifi to be extremely TRUSTWORTHY, they have it everywhere, next to the street, in the buses and camp sites... In Pamukkale specifically we were TESTED till the point of insanity as they pumped the same 10 songs though our ears the whole...

My first flight

Checking in? It went a little off track than what we thought it would. There were a few technical difficulties and we were not quite booked for our flight to Doha. But we serve a God of miracles! We were exactly on time for our flight. I was dropped off by my father, brother in law and sister at the airport in Johannesburg. We shared a quick coffee and then the reality hit me. I'm leaving the country in 3 hours!!!!!!!!!! It was hard. Every breath hurt as I hugged them and watched them leave. What am I doing?...

Make way for the things that cannot be shaken

We talk a lot about trusting God and embracing Him no matter the circumstance, but when push comes to shove is that really our response? The last few months I have been praying a prayer: “God, I want to be a woman of faith. Would you expand my faith and what I can handle, that I may know and trust you more? Create in me a heart of faith and a confidence in You that is unshakeable!” I have been asking Jesus to take my faith to new depths for MONTHS!!! And to be honest, I had sort of come...

Blessed Travels! (wYw)

Today was our first real travel day on this leg of our journey.  After a 6 am wakeup, corporate prayer, packing and cleaning, we left Reggae Backpackers.  We only found out that today that Adam, the landlord, is also a Christian and we had a quick chat with him and blessed him before leaving. We decided to travel light and left all our big bags in storage.  No sleeping bags, warm clothes or any luxuries.  Just the necessities.  We took a train to get out of the city and started hitch hiking.  At this point we split into 2 groups...

Turkey : what a country !!

We spent our first two days in the big city of Istanbul (European side) experiencing what turkey had to offer, seeing sites like Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. After our brief stay, we were on our way to the seaside town of Kusadasi, just 15km away from Ephesus, where one of the very first churches was. There our work started and we ended up fixing and painting a lot of stuff and everyone there just kept on pouring their love out on us just as we did with them. We were blessed by our contacts with a day at...

Turkish Delights

Turkish Delights
3 Continents in 3 days, Africa, Europe and Asia. This is how our 2016 journey began... and if it starts like this, then what else can you hope for but an adventure of a lifetime!  Turkish Delight, it comes in every flavour and colour. Some are crunchy, others melt in your mouth, Some look better than they taste, others look very plain and boring but when you taste it there is a flavour explosion. Some traditional, others the latest trend that comes and goes. Some only made from "healthy" honey and others pure sugar and gelatin. One thing that is...

Right? Wrong!

Right? Wrong!
I've been reading a book that challenges me to ruins! It's called Ordinary Radical. Please find it and read it if you can!   I've been thinking a lot about tithing. Why do we put so much emphasis on tithings when Jesus requires our everything? I had to be honest with myself and the reason I tithed many times was out of obligation. Then I have done my part and met His requirements, right? Wrong. God requires our everything. He knows what we give and with what heart. Man, Challenged! The Bible does not speak about tithing a lot. But...
