Well its been quite some time since i wrote, but only because it is so difficult to put my experience into words.. Over the past 5 months we have been traveling in brazil, guyana, suriname, jamaica, cuba, panama and now colombia. It has been an incredible journey so far with many, many, many challenges. God has really gotten to the bottom of our hearts challenging our way of thinking, of doing, how we make our decisions and coming to that place where you have nothing else to depend on than Him( which is the most scariest area i have journeyed...
I arrived in Fiji with a big excitement. It is an excitement placed in me very early this year when our journey started. The island vibe hits you the minute you leave the plane whith the local band welcomes you with a lively island tune. We got on a two and a half hour drive to labasa. We joined the YWAM base there and we where welcomed with joy. We pitched our tents and settled in. The next day our work started, and we took on our Daly task with joy and fellowship with the students and staff...
Good day! Jerusalem was beautiful and it was special to see where Jesus was, but I honestly enjoyed Bethlehem, on the other side of the wall, more. At both stops, we did a lot of gardening. Goodness, I never thought there could be so many metaphors with pulling out roots of weeds. I started dreaming about it even. Luckily I love gardening and find it to be therapeutic. In Bethlehem we lived with three stunning nuns, who changed my pre-conceived idea about nuns. At all of the ministry points we have gone so far there have been extremely effective women....
In Penang we joined a YWAM program for drug addicts, prostitutes, homeless people and even lady boys. It was a beutiful place to show God's love, the most hart breaking thing for me is that some of the people didn't believe they could go to heaven. So when I evangelised I usually started with, "Do you want to go to heaven right now ?" People were stunned at this and usually said something like, "I can't." Then they would ask who are you and I would say ," The brother of Jesus Christ and my Father is God." Eyes would...
Finally: Global 2021. Hi, Uné here :) I am a nineteen year old from Pretoria with a heart for God, missions and architecture. From a young age it has been my passion to lead people to my Savior. This was further ignited when I joined a Spirit-filled youth church in Pretoria. It turned my world upside down. About two months later, one of my church leaders told me about Global Challenge. Little did I know how momentous that moment would be in the months to come. I began researching Global Challenge and reached out to a member of a previous...
To say that I am an animal lover is a mild understatement. My team knows that if I'm lagging behind its generally because I've found something fluffy to pet along the way. Now there's this one pup here in Mcleod Gunj, that I labeled 'trouble maker' from the start. I could've named him scar face from all the stories I'm sure he'd love to tell. I chose Bono instead. He has a constant expression of concern on his face, doesn't smile much and loves to growl at the rest of the pack. But for some reason, Bono and I clicked...
Kosovo was diffrent for me than the rest of the group. Firstly I heard about my flight going to Kosovo instead of China while in South Africa after getting my new passport, thereby going to a place unexpected. There we met two missionary familys whom took us in with more than just open arms. One of the family's daughters thinks I am superman because I am wild and never really got hurt... that she knew of in anyway, but what really got me about Kosovo was that God revived my identity to a comfortable place where He could start working...
My foundation was shaken. It already started in China and carried on in Nepal. How we live and react to things that happen to us depends on what we believe about Jesus (i.e. The foundation that was built). Once you allow Jesus to come in to your house and some belief that you have that is not of Him...that belief starts to waver. Do you allow Him to set the truth as the foundation (a truth that is more solid and constant) or do you carry on building on something that is ignorant of Who Jesus is and what He...
This has been a hard and painful process, because I have been a young Christian with my own fixed ideas of who this God is. The biggest mistake I made was to try and box Him and His power in, with my small human mind. The first thing He showed me about His character is that I know nothing and that it is pointless to try and understand Him fully in His perfection. He showed me a fraction of Him and that, I am still processing. He showed me that He is faithful even though I am not. He answered...
