The never ending rope!!!

Ever thought that you are in a stage in your life that is perfect? Maybe you thought “This is the place to be!” Well guess what... God has other plans, plans that are completely different from our plans and that is the topic I want to discuss today in my first blog ever. So here I am thinking I can only trust myself and rely on myself. I was (well I WAS) a guy who never asked for help from anyone when doing something, INCLUDING GOD ( BIG MISTAKE ). Life was great in the worlds eyes, but in Gods...

Close to Home

Kosova was close to home. Coming from a farm in the Western Cape, nothing is closer to home (or my heart) then rolling hills, fields that stretch into the distance and most shades of green. God the Father knows this about me. I think He did what did in me here, because He knew I would need it. I’ve had one of the toughest weeks of my life here. On the other hand, it was one of the most refreshing and freeing weeks of my life. It was a time of becoming. Team became family. Uncertainty became adventure. Tiredness became...

The beginnings of Explore Africa part 4

While praying and planning for EA 09 God was impressing on my heart that we had to cover the whole continent. While it wasn't possible to enter all 54 (South Sudan didn't exist yet) African nations in one year it did seem possible that we could enter at least one country in each area of the continent. In other words North, West, Central and East Africa.   The Cairo to Cape Town route was still very much at the forefront of my mind; but I soon realised that some of the other adventurers out there were talking about three possible...

When you are judging someone, congradulations! You stand the chance to discover more of His beauty!

Learning to love differences.    I always took a lot of pride in believing I was a supporter of diversity. I have only now started realizing how deep the differences lay and how often we are offended, reason being this ignorance.   We did a temperament test a while a go, that changed my perception sooo much!   On that note,   Oh how I've learnt to love oblivion. One of the Love's sweetest way of loving us is to humble us. "There is in fact more to life than you know"    There is more to hope for. Once again...

The beginnings of Explore Africa part 3

It was a great 6 months. God did wonderful things as he prepared us for our next season in GCEX. We could probably write a book just on that time. God completely changed the way I thought about church and made me realise how crucial it was that church was a part of our mandate. I realised I wasn't only called for missions but for church, that the two is intertwined and that God's people is his church, not the brick-face on the corner. A township called Red Hill burned down and God used us to rebuild about 70 wooden...

Okay so here we go. I love music, like really I LOVE IT. If I see a piano I freak out ( on the...

Not a lot to say

IMG-20180902-WA0002
When I look around, al I see is people walking around in chaos...nowhere. There is a strange feeling to a place where disaster have struck, leaving people with little to nothing hope. Kind of makes you think, you know... about what you have, what is truly necessary and what if something like this happens to my family? Will God allow that?  If He does, will He give us new hope?  Will I still praise God in that storm? I've had a few questions and things to think about this last couple of weeks. But what I've realised is that, spending...

The Great Commission

Jana-the_great_comission_20200316-100043_1
The Great Commission. Coming out of 40 days of training in Jeffrey’s Bay, my heart is overflowing with excitement for the year as we get sent out and commissioned to finally go. Come on ! We’ve had wonderful teachers from all around the world to come and speak to us about God’s grace, living to love with Jesus, growing in the prophetic and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. We even had a week of hard labour, building a bridge and pathway for a high school in Jeffrey’s Bay. The weather was crazy, but it was so much fun !...

Coffee Capital

The time has come for us, with much expectation, to head to the coffee capital of the world, and we werent dissapointed.     It started of with so much excitement of seeing the parents on their visit, eating sweets and biltong, receiving gifts and letters of encouragements for us to finish the journey strong. There is something comforting receiving rusks with a note in your mothers handwriting.     Colombia has been a time of reflecting on the year thus far, what I have learned, refocusing on the journey and not letting my thoughts drift back home, re evaluating...

Wasted life, because I have insecurities.

I am so scared of using christianese. I used to judge people who used the word "journey" and "blessing". For me it was death! But now I'm starting to get there! So funny! I asked God to please take away my "judger". And ever since then, when I judge somebody for a characteristic, I get the characteristic #
