The Good News

Global Challenge. Sharing the good news with a world in need. What a good salespitch!   Training has been amazing: learning and discovering a whole lot of things about God, dying to self, His Story, myself and my teammates. We're also busy with teachings on how to actually spread the gospel, moving from the idealistic salespitch to genuine tools and approaches.   Learning to strike up conversations with "I'm part of a search and rescue team, saving the lost" and "I'm a body-builder, building the body of Christ" to actually sharing  the story of our Saviour giving the ultimate sacrifice...

Finding God in London

Finding God in London
I saw the Tower Bridge lift and heard the Big Ben sound. I saw Trafalgar, Westminster and Hyde Park ... places only heard about in movies and newspapers - "MUST visits". I saw castles, shops and had so many options of places to visit that I couldn't pick one! I thought that's what London was about, and that's the kind of stuff I'm gonna tell at the end of it. Come to think of it, I didn't really think it was the kind of place where you're gonna see the God of the Bible alive and working -...

!! A CRY FOR HELP !!

They look like mini swimming pools.  Pools of rice.  Feeding 400 kids daily with two gas burners and big pots is a challenge.  If there are only one tap and a really dirty floor outside it gets worse.  It is in this challenge that we would like to help. The kitchen boys in Kota has a very special place in our hearts.  It is them who Clara and Hattingh befriended the first year.  They are the ones who cannot cope in school and have to work here.  You can read some of Clara's blogs to listen to there stories. Jabulani Transkei!

As I write, we are on our way home from an incredible faith journey. A week and a half ago we set out to Port Elizabeth in hopes that we would make it to Coffee Bay in the Transkei in South Africa. Once in Port Elizabeth, we went out into the streets with cans and told people about our mission to go to Coffee Bay and build a fence and playground for the kids. Over the course of three hours we were able to raise 18,000 South African rand for our journey. So, we left on our journey!

Travelling, overstaying and eating sparrows! Blue Team Luke 10

Travelling, overstaying and eating sparrows! Blue Team Luke 10
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 You have no money, not really any plans, apprehension mixed with excitement and a huge hunk of uncertainty…it’s the start of Luke 10… what do you do? Well if your blue team and you have been sent out…. You GO! Leaving behind all the “baggage” we didn’t need and taking all God had taught us so far we said our goodbyes. After previously meeting together to share what God had told us about what He wanted for us to do, we met again and decided to trust and step into that....

After the fire comes the rain

rh-talks.jpg10 February 2008

“Rain means blessing,” said Clara Miles, Global Challenge (GC) Staff member.
We are standing in the pouring rain, looking over the Red Hill community that was destroyed by fire less than two days ago.
The rain is indeed an answer to prayer as it extinguishes the remaining fires and causes the dust and dry ash to settle.
The unique smell of burning wood extinguished by water hangs in the air.
It’s been an exciting day. The whole CPx (Church Planting eXperience) group from All Nations arrived in the morning to come and aid the community.

Who am I?

Who am I?
Hi! My name is Philip Pretorius. But who exactly is…Philip Pretorius? I think the first thing you should know is that I’m the type of guy that always seeks out laughter and tries to see the fun in, well everything! I was born In Pretoria and grew up in Pretoria.  I am currently 18 years old and proud to say that I’m about to finish my school-career. Thus I have come to the place in my life where I have had to ask myself the important question… What exactly is it I want to do with the rest of my...

I made a video of my Sao Paulo, but have trouble uploading so you will need to wait a bit for that update. Sao Paulo Airport experience: The flight from Sao Paulo was very early and the airport far out of the city and this meant that we had to sleep the night in the airport. This was the teams first sleep in airport experience (but not the last). At about 2 am 2 guys from Chile ended up at our corner looking for help. Since Luiza in our team is from Brazil she offered her help and I went...
