Touched by God's love for us and our need for Him

I saw a young child of arround 6 years in the isle of a busy street in Agra, India she wore a white dress but the dress was soo dirty at places that it looked black, totally contaminated with dirt. There was no one close to her, to protect her from: cutting remarks, glares and advances. She was so exposed to the world and the evil people in it. Nothing seperating her from this... There is an ever present evil as the streets in India really aren't safe!It struck me so much as every child needs and deserves love as well...

God is the gardener

God is the gardener
If practise makes perfect then it is safe to say I am an ever improving gardener!  We have spent a lot of time in gardens, pulling out weeds, clearing rubble and planting new plants. This humbling work has taught me a few things which have so much symbolism to how God is working in my heart and the hearts of the team! It brings so much joy to see the vision of the gardener before we start, there are weeds everywhere, rocks in the wrong place and some plants dominating most of the space. The gardener looks at the garden...

I'll be riding shotgun

IMG_0872
“Abba, I belong to you!” Five words that will be etched into my life forever. Words that have been spoken by many, but truly felt by little. These last few months have been a rollercoaster. So many unexpected turns, so many ups and downs, so much turbulence but so much freedom.  I was thinking about all the people that came before me. All the people that had to make a conscience decision to follow Jesus blindly into what He was doing for them. I recall the story of Cain and Abel. Abel brought a better sacrifice to God by...

Thailand here we come!

Thailand here we come!
The GC team split up into three teams - two being up to Thailand, and one staying in Kuala Lumpur. The red team are the only lucky ones who are all in one team! So for a change we're gonna minister together for the next tree weeks! We left for Hat Yai, Thailand on the train yesterday evening and arrived here this morning (29/4/08). Our new friend, June, was at the station to meet us! We are staying at the dormitory on the premises, and our dinner has already been a "WARM" welcome! Our ministry will consist of...

A Date With Jesus

A Date With Jesus
Sometime last week while lying in bed I realized that I want more, I need more! I felt like a rejected girlfriend, I felt unloved and unnoticed. I know God is good, I know He loves me, I know He lives in me but I didn't feel it. My head and my heart weren't in the same place and I needed it to be, so this I asked. The next morning I woke up feeling bound and bothered - I wanted to be free! I expected it to get better, but it got worse. Where was God? Why didn't He answer?...

Investing in Ubatuba, Brazil

Investing in Ubatuba, Brazil
“Where you invest your love, you invest your life”  - Mumford and Sons       Recently, I have been thinking about what it means to invest in relationships. Although that takes many different forms, shapes and sizes, there is one thing that is at the very foundation of a good solid investment…Love. In my experience, I have found it is easy to go throughout the day and be surrounded by people with which you talk to and work with, but I find that it is a totally different thing to stop and intentionally know that person. To know them is...

In issolation God speaks...

When we get so caught up in die patterns o this world, God sometimes need to issolate us in order to speak into our lives.
What better place than Masaiti (meaning place of issolation) in Zambia.

Since the challenge to get from Pretoria to the FCE base in Masaiti, God's been teaching and showing me so much.  With the
focus on God and Rom.12v2, I've come to realise how easily we fall into the pattern of this world.  Our thinking patterns
become more and more worldly and then we try to fit God into this pattern as well.  We trust on our own insights, loosing
focus of Him.

Who am I?

Who am I?
Hi! My name is Philip Pretorius. But who exactly is…Philip Pretorius? I think the first thing you should know is that I’m the type of guy that always seeks out laughter and tries to see the fun in, well everything! I was born In Pretoria and grew up in Pretoria.  I am currently 18 years old and proud to say that I’m about to finish my school-career. Thus I have come to the place in my life where I have had to ask myself the important question… What exactly is it I want to do with the rest of my...
