In issolation God speaks...

When we get so caught up in die patterns o this world, God sometimes need to issolate us in order to speak into our lives.
What better place than Masaiti (meaning place of issolation) in Zambia.

Since the challenge to get from Pretoria to the FCE base in Masaiti, God's been teaching and showing me so much.  With the
focus on God and Rom.12v2, I've come to realise how easily we fall into the pattern of this world.  Our thinking patterns
become more and more worldly and then we try to fit God into this pattern as well.  We trust on our own insights, loosing
focus of Him.

Beyond the looking glass…

Bubble bubble toil and trouble. Eye of newt Miles of smiles Stir the rainbow twice Dance around in bells and SHOUT A dash of lavender, a pinch of salt Slowly let it brew...   5 teams jumbled together, one challenge, TONS of fun! It's a bit like putting together the kids from Captain Planet, connecting the rings, and then seeing where the adventure awaits.   We (Mari, Elizma, Tjaart, Herman, & me) started the day with lots of enthusiasm, then we found out about the liquid breakfast we were about to receive - raw egg. Yum.   We had a...

Returning to my First Love

In a few minutes I will be 22 years old and I pray that the new year in my life will bring renewal from deep within me. I yearn to burn with passion for God as I have before, I desire to love Him again with my whole heart and soul and mind, I wish to return to Him, my First Love. Jesus Christ. I am tired but quite satisfied when I look back at the past year. A lot has been accomplished. Sadly I have to admit that I did not love God as I used to. Exactly like the people in Revelation 2:1-7. For me...

The first challenge

This is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wash 10 cars, eat 20 icecreams, take pictures infront of different shops, ride the super tube continiously for 1 hour, drive to the next town and share cake with a person born on January, spend an hour at the oldage home, spend an hour at the local community's primary school.  Go there at 10, be there at 3, finish before 6.  Needless to say, I had difficulty using my legs the next day.  But what a great experience!!! The people that helped us through out the day was an absolute blessing from God.  We heard the testimony...

Pink fingernails, butterflies and White Shoes :-)

Pink fingernails, butterflies and White Shoes :-)
Okay, so pink is definately my favourite colour...but pink fingernails = not exactly my style!!  Sapna, one of the lovely girls at the orphanage we visited in India, thought it wasn't such a bad idea & after painting the girls' room and washing our hands she continued with the painting...only on my nails this time :-) Since the moment I met her, I've learnt that she's crazy about butterflies, enjoys drawing and wears white shoes on Wednesdays only.  But more than this she's taught me a lot about love, friendship, discipline and smiling even though from the world's point of...

Witnessing the death of a Maasai

Witnessing the death of a Maasai
At break time during our school visit, Hennie pulls up with the ambulance ( a Landrover Defender). He needs to do a pickup and there is space if someone wants to see what they do. I jump in and marvel at the scenery as we race on the footpath to the village. This is the only ambulance operating in the district. There is no telephone reception and villagers need to run to the clinic to come and fetch the ambulance. This is only done when all the traditional medicine has failed. It took us a good 20 minutes of off...

I'll be riding shotgun

IMG_0872
“Abba, I belong to you!” Five words that will be etched into my life forever. Words that have been spoken by many, but truly felt by little. These last few months have been a rollercoaster. So many unexpected turns, so many ups and downs, so much turbulence but so much freedom.  I was thinking about all the people that came before me. All the people that had to make a conscience decision to follow Jesus blindly into what He was doing for them. I recall the story of Cain and Abel. Abel brought a better sacrifice to God by...

The answer was so obvious

maggie-en-ek.jpgA few times the past three weeks I've had the thought: “I would rather be here, than anywhere else in the world…”

These few words get new meaning when you are standing amongst the ruins of 72 burnt down shacks! The Red Hill fire-disaster in the Cape Peninsula caught a whole community by surprise, but I was certainly not prepared for what lied ahead of me as I drove along the road leading to the disaster stricken community for the first time.

I do not know

GOD is to blame   I have been here just days and things aren't what I thought them to be at all. I know the state of our country and have known for many years, but then I never did realise that I could at some point be numb to what I have seen in all my years. I am sorry and really am opening my eyes and seeing what I refused to see. cleaning out toilets, I mean ME!!! I know, I wud rather be on stage dancing and beaing myself. but if you see what we went through...
