We as an orange team are settings this world on fire. Since the last blog that Liesl wrote we had some amazing times. We learned so much from each other and the team really grew as a unit. Everyone is really filling their role well. Liesl (Team leader) Yvonne(Food) Johann(Finance) Henri(Travel/communication) We have set out from our initial base camp in Jefferies and moved just down the road to the VCSV camp and received some amazing teachings. We then had a challenge from Jefferies to Mdumbi which is located in the Transkei. Again some amazing teaching and some...

Global Challenge. Sharing the good news with a world in need. What a good salespitch! Training has been amazing: learning and discovering a whole lot of things about God, dying to self, His Story, myself and my teammates. We're also busy with teachings on how to actually spread the gospel, moving from the idealistic salespitch to genuine tools and approaches. Learning to strike up conversations with "I'm part of a search and rescue team, saving the lost" and "I'm a body-builder, building the body of Christ" to actually sharing the story of our Saviour giving the ultimate sacrifice...
June 2005 my feet touched the ground of Thailand for the first time. I was introduced to Mr. Prasert Tipparat (better known as Mr. P) and his wife Mrs. Pannee Tipparat (better known as Mrs. P). At that stage, Mr. P was the principal of Rong -Or school in Chiang Mai (the Northern part of Thailand) and Mrs. P a teacher at Talook school. They are both retired now. This wonderful man and his wife open up their house for the teams that come and go each year. They ‘take care of the team’ (as...
The dictionary discribes joy as: A feeling of great pleasure and happiness. I truly believe that being joyful is one of the key things to get closer to God. And even just to give a smile to a stranger can change your life and theirs. I let people and things steal my joy for way to long and I knew it. Only now on this amazing journey I finally realized that nobody has the power to steal my joy unless I gave them that power....
" a picture is worth a thousand words " ?? - well then a smile is worth a million! Thailand is ‘Smileland', no doubt about that! What a blessed three weeks this was, feeling so at home in God's valley, I think when God painted the earth He accidentally let the little green bottle tip over on this part cause... WOW, what a refreshing sight this is! If there is one place so far that I wish I could share with the nation, it definitely is Thailand, the overwhelming presence of God amongst these Buddhists. Every thai's gesture, body language, signs...
Wow... this was deffinetly THE MOST AMAZING year by far!! It started off with an hour show of fireworks, celebration for what was to come, but for me also a farewell of a part of my life that was difficult to let go. I didn't think that it would be forever and it was also not just a part if I look back now. I went on a journey of life time thinking that I was going to change people's lives, do something for God... change the world... I counted up the cost and He was worth leaving everything behind...
Since being in Colombia I often asked myself how do I love other people? Out of a society where everybody looks for their own interests and tries to get the best out of everything I didn't know how to love others. I know God loves us so much that He gave His son for us and how Jesus loved other people way back in the past. But how does it look like today? So I went and sought God for it to show me how to do it and for opportunities to put the theoretical knowledge into actions. God...
I fix my eyes on You, Jesus, because you are my source of life. During my two years at university the Lord really started working in my heart and I surrendered my life to Him. I studied BA Law for two years and embraced every moment of being a hostel student. My law classes were filled with excellent lectures, lots of laughter with beautiful friends and merciful marks. It was a wonderful time of spending time with friends that love Jesus and getting to know who I am as a child of God. Although I really enjoyed the experience of...
We are extremely happy to report that Northbound have arrived safely in Athens city and will be sleeping at Zeus Hostel on perfectly white and fluffy beds! We have definitely been upgraded from trying our utter most best to catch a few winks whilst shivering on the cold airport floor or huddling and scrunching on an airport bench. Dinner at the airport last night: Cara was an absolute miracle to our team as she wonderfully presented our cuisine dish for the evening. We would purchase cups of hot water from a coffee shop and then meticulously concoct some Maggi 2 Minute Noodles which we...
Colombia... where we will always remember a different version of John 15, "Remain in Me, and I will remain in you."
