Guatamala to Mexico

Guatamala to Mexico
Guatamala is propably not the first country that comes to mind if you think of a holiday destination. Well I can just confirm that it is worth spending time in this country. Apart from the people that are very friendly it is also reasonably cheap and have majestic sceneries.   Our time in Panajachel (town in Guatamala) was mainly used for building projects. We linked with a local church and assist them with the various projects that they are involved in.   I had to leave the team though to travel back to SA for my sister's wedding. I have...

One single prayer and the word of our testimony-RuSsiA

One single prayer and the word of our testimony-RuSsiA
Do we really grasp the importance of one single prayer? How many times have we been saved by someone’s prayer without you knowing or how many times have we saved someone by one single prayer by being obedient to God , maybe a prayer out of pure desperation and if you ask something  God will most probably give it to you, in his perfect time. I listened to the lead Guitarist of the rock band Korn’s testimony “I am second”, who lived for fame, fortune, sex and drugs, he was fully  addicted to the drug “Meth” and out of pure...

Nepal Fever

Nepal Fever
At first glance you won't think that Kathmandu has so much locked up in itself. It's a poor city with many rich people.   Our time in Nepal was spectacular!   Oh, turquoise team! During training we could see that Jesus placed us all in this particular mini team for a reason.    We just had to wait and see when and why..   Let me introduce you to the turquoise team, just in case you need to hear from us again :)   Drumroll... Madelein, Chanelle, Annique, Anseri, Quinton and Coetzee.    When I started off thinking about writing...

Ya mon this is Jamaica mon

These words pronounced with a strong carribean accent, Usain Bolt, Bob Marley, Rastafarians and Cool Runnings were about the sum total of what I knew about Jamaica. After our visit to the island, this picture got some colour. Turqoois, clear water, a small island with hills and lush vegetation, hundreds of Palm trees, tropical fruits, friendly people and a tropical laid back atmosphere were added. What is sad about this picture is the smell of dagga that completes it. Dagga is cheaper than food and holds so many captive.    We arrived at Kingston and was spoiled with Blue...

Listening

Nickie-listenin_20200316-101016_1
There are known knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns. It's easy to predict what's in store for us as a team this year. I know we're all persuing Christ even as He's persuing each one of us. I nor the team know what to expect from the countries we'll be going but we do know to what countries we'll be going. Lastly and for the most part we don't know what to expect, we don't know the relationships we'll make nor the people we'll meet, we don't know about the lives Christ will touch through us. God is good and...

Luke 22

Then Jesus asked them,"When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. He said to them, "But now if you have a purse take it, and also a bag, and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." We had bags, BIG bags, and to be completely honest, nothing much else, except faith much, MUCH smaller than a grain of sand - nevermind a mustard seed. Well, I can't really speak for the rest of the Lime team, that's really just me. Oh me of little faith... (me, yea...same...

Playing "house-house" in Guyana

"What a beautiful house you have! Did you build it yourself? I think Shaun helped you to build it right?" It is only smiles that comes from the 7 or 8 year old girl sitting in front of the pieces of sink and pieces of material that makes out to be the two beautiful little girls' play house! It is situated between coconut and indigenous trees and bushes in a small town called Timehri, Guyana.    The background of where these two lovely little girls come from is still a mystery to me. But I know that the lady that...

During our time in Jordan, I was asking God lots of questions.    “God, do you see the people dying? Do you see their scars? Why aren’t you stopping this? What is my point here if I can’t stop this?”   The worst part is not the suffering. The worst part is the suffering without knowing God. That people are experiencing loss without knowing God. Its not just here. All over the world, people are living without knowing God. People are dying without knowing God, people are “happy” without knowing God. People are living the high life, without knowing God....

RED HILL INFERNO - Appeal to HELP

Red Hill, Cape Peninsula

rh-car.jpg

09 February 2008

Raging fires across the Cape Peninsula have destroyed houses and left people with nothing.
The runaway fire did the most damage in Red Hill, an informal settlement, where at least 55 houses have been burned down and more than 90 people have been displaced.
“All I have left is the clothes on my body,” says Wonder. A single guy living in Red Hill. His house was completely burned to the ground while he was at work.
Global Challenge (GC) Staff who is working with All Nations in the area decided to visit Red Hill and access the damage.
“We were completely shocked at the extent of the damage,” says Stefan Kleyn, GC Staff member.

Egypt: the in's and outs

Hey all our Yellow Team fans :-) A lot has happened since the last time we spoke...we pick up then where we left off! Anafora (25 Feb - 2 Mar) was loaded with some study and learning time but we also see it as a huge privilege that we had to ease into the Egyptian culture by being introduced to it in all its various forms, although secluded in the sense that we were looked after by our hosts and ot in the city as such. Great preparation for Cairo with its 26 Million (according to the locals) people living there!...
