What is faith

I have been thinking about this topic recently and my understanding of the word faith has just been challenged in so many ways.

Cuba! What is God's Church doing in this Distant Island?

The first country that we visited on our Journey around the world to all the Distant Islands is Cuba.  The reason why we are only putting up our first blogs now is because Cuba has no Internet. Cuba is a communist country, which means that their government controls everything and the people does not really have a free will or any opinion. Cuba is a very interesting and unique country. Even though it is in the Caribbean, it is not like any of the other Islands. It almost feels like we did not only travel half way around the world, but that we also travelled back in time. All the buildings and cars here, are very old. The country doesn't use or have a lot of new technology, or actually they don't have a lot of new anything.

Father knows best..

Sooo in training we learned about us being predestined. I had so many questions, how when, where, can it be??? Then Jesus just came and went : oh my child let me just show you...  You know God being a Father and having such a sense of humour...  He loves to surprise you and He surly loves it to make you stand in awe of what He is doing.  GOD    In so many ways He had shown me all the times I took steps and He directed them.    The journey that I am on at this moment with...

Off to the Mountains we go

The mountains lay slow moving in the mist, floating shapes in a murcy distance. Fading into the sky with no clear foothold they cast a shadow on the quicker moving sands that flow from their feet. The green plantations, brought about by human irrigation from nearby rivers , is an overture to the contrasting dry landscape behind it. It moves past rapidly as the bus finaly nears our destination:  Chiclayo.

Your way Lord...

This is how an adventure starts.... After our Machu Picchu adventure we got on a bus to the Bolivian border from Cusco on a Monday evening at 22:30. We reached the Bolivian border the next morning with anticipation and hopes of seeing the jungle again but...God had other plans. About an hour later we found ourselves on the pavement back in Peru as we couldn't get into Bolivia. In a rush of praying and thinking and trusting we unloaded our bags from the bus and waved it goodbye as it entered Bolivia without us. So there we were...apparently Peru wanted...

Cycling from Bankok 2 Phuket

Cycling from Bankok 2 Phuket
A wise man I know said: 'The mind can only absorb what the bottom can endure.' After the past week I think my mind can absorb a lot more because this was a time my bottom was tested and it endured. Travelling from Bangkok to Phuket on bicycles approx 900 km, what an amazing challenge! We started of full of energy - in the hectic Bangkok, travelling till about 12 pm at night. Exhausted we found a space to sleep, under a roof for the 8 of us. The next few days we faced everything: bikes breaking down, doing a visa run...

Last days in Malaysia

Wow! Time is going by so fast! We are having a very blessed time here in Malaysia. Still strugling a bit with the VERY HOT AND HUMID weather, but we are having a great time. Every day I just realise more and more how blessed we are living in South Africa where we have freedom of speech! For these people Christianity is not a religion but a true relationship with God! It is very inspiring to see how they live and how they trust God for everything!! My email adres on the blog is incorrect, I will try to fix it as soon...

Life on the Island

Life on the Island
LIFE ON THE ISLAND As on many islands you expect to get a lot of palm trees layered with coconuts, white sandy beaches and a friendly local greeting you in a vibrant tongue telling you to enjoy your stay on the island. Fiji is much the same. It consists of 333 islands with two main "bigger" islands . The people are extremely warm and relational orientated and your watch is only used to tell you when it's time for your next meal. According to history, Fijians came over from Africa with "big canoes" in the 1800's. Not hard to believe....
