Borneo village.

Borneo village.
Our time in Tioman was a time of change. It was great to have De Necker with us and give teachings and helps us throw a couple of problems. He was such a blessing. The fresh outlook on things gave us a new hunger and courage to keep on doing what we are called for, although it is not always easy. From Toiman we did our Luke 10 back to KL and then we flew to Borneo in Indonesia. My brother always said he wants to come here one day and I always wanted to join him.  Back then it...

Local Challenge - Vereeniging!
The weekend of 30 April until 2 May we had our Local Challenge in Vereeniging. Eleven teams entered the challenge not knowing what they might find in this time... And wow did we find alot! Here are some picture of events that took place over the weekend.  Friday afternoon we built for ourselves in the rain a shelter to sleep in.  Saterday morning started off with a 7H00 bible study and a one liter ice-cream per team to eat. At 10H00 we all cathered in Orange farms (Local Community) to paint three Sunday school class rooms at the local church.    Serving in the...

Workin'it out in Fusagasuga, Colombia

Where else could a team of laymen have a mud fight, eat incredible Colombian food, and finish a HUGE rerouting of a sewage system project in less than two weeks?  Well, in Fusagasuga you can if you are the Blue team. Yes!, the five of us embarked on this massive project with our baby soft hands and frail backs only to complete the project as burly Russian like work women and man who conquered the tough Colombian terrain.

For my power is greatest when you are weak

Peru is divided in three different climates: Rainforest, dessert & Ocean and mountains - the Andes. We spent one month in Peru. As well as different the climates are so are the people and the ways people live. In no other country we had so many ministry opportunities. I remember one day in one of the villages in the Andes: 3 School visits, later children programm in a park and then in the evening evangelism in a public place. That's a good example of how packed the time in Peru was. Additional it was cold, we couldn't sleep much...

Straight to the truth (Written by Kobus)

Straight to the truth (Written by Kobus)
The time we spent in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia was the most difficult part of the year so far. Everybody asked why? It is a wonderful and beautiful city, with friendly people, lovely food and a vibrant atmosphere. Why? Well, there are several reasons why. I was jealous because I wasn’t a part of the Thailand team. It was the country I was most excited to see, but then I stayed behind in KL. It was difficult, extremely difficult. Later on I realized that God chose me to be there and not Thailand; with this the green colour disappeared...

quick update on the GCex
From the get going we are busy help where we can. We had our first challenge and it was AWESUM. We spend basically the full day trying the complete the tasks that was given to us. Some of them was very easy like taking a photo here and there but some of them was to go to a different town with limited funds. This basically forced you to catch a lift. We were very lucky in finding someone that took us all the way and getting back was also not a problem. We also had to was some cars and...

Silence before God brings revelation

Silence before God brings revelation
Having church is a church that speaks the native Egyptian language (Coptic) is an amazing experience!!!    We had church every night, but we could not understand a word they were saying, so while they were singing I just sat and was quiet before God........and I had this simple, yet significant revelation... He is so much more than we think!!! He is not just your Friend, your Father, your Teacher, your Protector and your Comforter.... He is also GOD almighty, Lord of all the heavens and earth, creator of the Universe!!!!   "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of...

Capital City or Desert Oasis? (EA beginnings part 10)

Capital City or Desert Oasis? (EA beginnings part 10)
The long stretch of road across the desert to Nouakchott was very adventurous. It was exciting to think we were busy cruising across the Sahara.     Even though the landscape stayed pretty much constant, the people were changing. Their skin colour became darker as we moved south and soon it was obvious that we had left the European-like Morocco behind and we were entering into the more familiar images of Africa.   Nouakchott was so much African that the sudden change from Morocco was a shock on our systems. It didn't help that we arrived very late at night...
