Let it Rain: Laos

Let it Rain: Laos
Laos: Let it rain! “Yeah guys, we have no budget for Laos.” Maybe that statement needs some clarification. To clear it up a bit, I will start one country earlier. I am not referring to Nepal in this case, but rather to Thailand, where we spent two nights in Bangkok. Unfortunately one day is way too little to truly be able to say one has seen Thailand, or even Bangkok, but we filled our time as best we could. After a morning of debriefing Nepal, we hit the streets, looking for a certain famous tourist area in Bangkok. It turned...

The dust and the ash have settled.

Archie sharing his story...The dust and the ash have settled and the valley of Red Hill is showing signs of life.  Beautiful homes are currently been built and as we prepare to lay the foundation of "ouma" Nothukeni's home the Holy Spirit is preparing their hearts to receive the Word.

On Thursday night we had a celebration.  We organized a fellowship with the Red Hill community: prepared "pap" and chicken for dinner; sang songs of praises and then we had a few people from CPX share their testimony and explain to the people why we decided to embrace the Red Hill project. We also gave the people of Red Hill the opportunity to share their stories

Sweetly broken, wholly surrendered

Today I'm reminded of the wonderful lyrics by Jeremy Riddle: What a priceless gift, undeserved life Have I been given through Christ crucified You've called me out of death You've called me into life And I was under Your wrath Now, through the cross, Im reconciled At the cross, You beckon me You draw me gently to my knees And I am lost for words, so lost in love Im sweetly broken, wholly surrendered Throughout this week we've had the privilege of being taught by Norman Wakefield. He broke scripture down in a new way, with emphasis on being anchored...

That is what challenged me a lot the last few days in NZ. I always knew I had to spread the gospel (in South Africa), but the “opportunity” just never showed up at my doorstep. I was the average “Christian” boy, living from Sunday...

Faith and Fried Rice...

Faith and Fried Rice...
"There are few things more exhilarating than venturing out with no better option than to trust and then finding the Object of your trust worthy of it! The act of trusting forges a strong and powerful memory of the kind of grand adventure that comes only from letting go" Venturing out and trusting is what five of us South-bound members decided to do last week. We arrived in Thailand a week ago, with ministry set up for us here and more than enough of that to keep us busy and eliminate too many off-times. So when we did get time-off, Pieter...

The "journey" before the real journey starts...

Were to begin on the last 6 weeks in Jeffreys bay... A few words that I gan think of to describe the past weeks in Jeffreys would be growth, unity, love, grace, compasion, friendship, prayer and team building. I say growth because not only did I grow, but we grew as a team closer and in unity. Spiritualy it was a great journey were in the first few weeks God really came to shape us and to prepare us for the journey, taking out and away stuff in us that we don't need. And through that I grew as person...

Egypt: Your hot and your cold...

As the 42 members of the Global Challenge boarded the plane, on the evening of the 24 of Feb, which was due for Cairo you could sense the anticipation in the air!  This was the big moment that everybody had been waiting for.  6 weeks of training had led up to this very moment!  As I looked over to those close enough to me I could see each one quietly reflecting. What, I could only guess.... As the door of the plane opened, a chilly Egypt airport awaited us at 14C.  This cold caught us all a bit by surprise, as...

The day my life changed…

Life doesn’t start the day you only give your life to Christ, I mean I did that many years ago, but still I wasn’t walking in victory.  How is this possible, do you ask?  Come with me and I’ll tell you…
