For My Good

For My Good
Brazil is insane cool. This must be my favorite place. It is beautiful and we are with a youth group that NEVER leaves. Each night the team thinks we are going to bed earlier (10 pm) and then we hear… the bell. We open the door and person after person walks in. Then we make dinner and most of the times desert is included. They will cheer at anything and loves card games and soccer games and LOVES worshipping. And we get to join in it all. I love the body of Christ. They just want to know the Father...

Feasts and Celebrations

By Jana Dippenaar / Yellow Team

So it seems that being yellow means you eat a lot? And really well! At first we were all amazed at what one can eat with a R8 per person per day food budget. Thanks to Royco pasta sauces meals needn't even be all spicy and hot and with fresh food markets all around and mutton prices extremely cheap even traditional boerekos is possible! China is a chef's paradise? But this is not at all what God had in mind when He sent us to the heart of China. Improving my cooking skills will have to wait for later because right now God is treating us!!

Angelo, Dee, Hen: Luke 10!

Angelo, Dee, Hen: Luke 10!
Hi, Angelo Petersen here! My Luke 10 experience. When we (De Necker, Henro and I) arrived in Mae Sot(In Thailand next to the Myanmar border) we didn’t know what the Lord expected us to do. We heard about a farmhouse school and we wanted to go and seek out our ‘man of peace’ there. But we couldn’t find it. Then we took a moment to pray together and ask the Lord exactly where he wanted us to go. We then found a hospital and felt we should go there and pray for the people there. We then found a nun...

I had some sense knocked in to me

A 24 year old volunteer (me) time keeping at the Global Leadership Academy sports day was hit over the head with the high jump pole that was holding up the sail providing shade in the sweltering heat. The windy city of PE certainly lives up to its  name. She was rushed to the local GP by her caring team leaders. She narrowly escaped with a few stiches of laughter from herself and witnesses to this sensationalist scene. For once we can be thankful for her exceptionally hard head! Now that I have your attention....    17 Days ago I began...

YOU CAN MAKE HIM KNOWN

ONLY WHEN YOU KNOW GOD, YOU CAN MAKE HIM KNOWN

Talking about the character of God, Uncle Christopher’s favorite line was “Come and see and taste that the Lord is good”.  It’s quoted from one of David’s psalms if I’m not mistaken.

Faces of light

Two stars shining brightly as if with a mission to light up the world and a love radiated from a heart that loves with God's love. Beyond that, a smiling kid that's guick to grab your hand in an eternal friendship grasp, tugging you away to show you her room... As we we're preparing to depart for India, the above wasn't what I was expecting at all.  My mind's eye was preparing me to see starving kids living on the streets, begging and desperately searching for food. Starving people living between heaps of trash, hoping against hope for a better future....

‘Blessed be the poor because they will receive the Kingdom of God’ (Matt. 5)

‘Blessed be the poor because they will receive the Kingdom of God’ (Matt. 5)
Hi everyone! What an experience the last couple of days! These people have a very intimate relationship with God – it is all they’ve got! Their praise and worship is so powerful and filled with the Holy Spirit’s presence, yet very simple. It really feels like church and how it is suppose to be, like in the Bible! One of the duties that we as a group have to do is Gate duty from 11pm until 6 am at Sing Mun Springs. Me, Marna and Phillip had a great time. We shared, journal and walked 7 times around the...

The Ancient City

The Ancient City
Jordan - Petra   I traveled along the Red Sea and adventured through the borders and I reached Jordan.  Backdrops of mighty mountains flowing down into white and brown valleys of desert. My destination was the remote dead city called Petra, the most important attraction of Jordan. Petra is a secluded site of steep rocky slopes, towering, craggy mountains a mountaineers dream.  Petra is a ancient city carved into solid rock. The main entrance called the Siq is hemmed in by cliffs soaring up into the blue sky. A long, deep and narrow gorge of stunning natural beauty.  Passing through...

TOGO.... ‘To go’ or not ‘To go’

‘The Ground of Unrelenting Magnetic Force that detained us for a Greater Purpose and Undeserved Reward....’ We left Benin with a taxi that seated up to nine people excluding the driver.  We have become very accustomed to this cosy public transport arrangement.   There are usually animals among the passengers, this time we just had a live guinea fowl behind the back seat. The border crossing from Benin to Togo was a very smooth procedure which led us to the land of unpredictability.  The beautiful landscape and climate of Benin rolled out into Togo like a carpet and did not yield...

Green desert

Israel .. It was so awesome to be in this place, really it was! It was crazy expensive but it is such a beautiful country. We saw so much and learnt quite a bit about the Jewish culture and about where Jesus was and all that stuff. We did gardening and went on small tours. I want to take this opportunity to apologize to my mother for me always being so lazy and not helping in the garden or around the house because I actually really enjoyed it! Sorry mom! I'm so grateful that I could grow closer to my...
