Feminism and Godliness

Have you ever really thought about what being woman and Christian means?

And now I do not mean being a woman of Christ through pouring tea after church, baking & quot;malva pudding" for the church fare, attending your all women Bible Study or remembering the minister’s birthday.

No – I mean have you ever really read what the Bible says about being a woman in church and submitting to male authority?

Sho sho... India.

Our arrival into India was ubrupt and crazy, chaos was an understatement. Animals, tuk-tuks, trucks, cars and crowds scattered everywhere. New Delhi is a bee hive of hasslers, vehicles and markets - all trying to promote the best price. Just as ubrupt was the 'Dehli belly' many of the guys suffered from during this time. We arrived in New Delhi on a Monday, from Bangkok, after a lay over in Sri Lanka. As expectations go, Slumdog Millionaire was on my mind, there is a reality of slums yes but there is such a diversity in India itself. Every state has...

This is adventure

3:00am the alarm went off. Lord what is happening?? 2 hours of sleep and emotions bigger than the 20kg bag of luggage. I'm scared? Lord, this is taking a blind step of faith.. This is leaving my family behind. This is stepping into the unknown. This is frightening.. This is EXCITING!! Predestined for greatness. This is just the beginning! My heart bursts with excitement, not even my tiredness can hold it back. This is madness! Reality is too real for the moment. Should I pinch myself? 8 months of faith building. 8 months of seeking God. 8 months of discovering...

"Pot-luck" lunch Peruvian style

Today we returned to the village where God had done miracles and several community members had accepted the Lord the previous day. Again, we were allowed to speak to the school children. This time, we did a drama about how sins become burdens in your life and weigh you down and how Christ comes and wants to take our burdens from us. All we have to do is give them to Him and He will throw them as far as the east is from the west. After this drama, we again shared the gospel message and asked the kids if there were any of them that wanted give their life and their burdens to God. At this invitation, 18 kids came forward and we were able to pray for them! We then gave all the school children, teachers and some parents New Testaments. Again, people from the community came for prayer. Women were healed from body pains, sickness of their whole body and chest pain. More people came to know Christ and more people came from their homes for prayer!  Again, God was faithful and showed His glory to those people!

After praying for the people, we were invited to join them for lunch. But, it was not just any lunch,

The way of life...Psalm 16:11

In the beginning of this year God gave me a promise in the book of Psalms which meant so much to me. Psalm 16:11 grabbed my heart and through out this year I have kept it in my heart and I saw how this promise was being fulfilled everyday. It is written that the promises of God is our armor and protection. When life gets difficult it is always amazing how you can go back and read the promises God gave you and immediately it will lighten up your face.

Scrubbing till it sets you free

I’ve done a lot of scrubbing this month. (And the Lord has done quite a bit of scrubbing on my heart as well). Tonight I was scrubbing shoes. You know sometimes you have the opportunity to replace dirty old shoes and sometimes you have the privilege of scrubbing them until they are clean. I appreciate those clean shoes that shine like new ones but have the comfort and flexibility of being worn in by trails and adventures. I think our hearts work much the same. Sometimes God allows us to leave difficult circumstances, even if it means that we stay...

Le tour de "Taailand"

Le tour de "Taailand"
Thailand   Or as I would describe it, taailand. Because as one of my team mates would  say - "The team leader got this crazy idea of cycling from Bangkok to Phuket". Yes, we got the cheapest bicycles we could find - half of them single speeds - and we travelled, with our luggage, for 6 days from the capital to the renound island of Phuket.   We had a week to spare before we would join with the Asia Centre Foundation. So the idea came to cycle from Bangkok to Phuket.  A gruelling 860 kilometers.   After coming overland...

En Route Morocco

En route Morocco Currently I'm writing from this very trendy hostel in Morocco. Imagine Moroccan architecture, soft music and chilled vibes along with good coffee. This all is very welcoming after spending two nights on two different airports across three different continents. Yep, that's what went down - four cities, three flights, two nights in airports (a sleeping bag, inflatable mattress and pillow make a formidable combination in any situation!). The journey is obviously not about just the country - there's a lot more to it. And when choosing the cheapest way of traveling a thing I would like to...

Summary of Training 2014*

Summary of Training 2014*
My Journey began in 2013 as soon as I heard I’m accepted for Global. The biggest Challenge at that time was to trust God to provide finances for me to go on Global in 2014. I had this knowledge in me that God will provide for my family (I have seen it through the years growing up), but for the first time I have to trust Him to provide for ME. I can surely tell you that God is, Yehovah Jirah: The God that provides.  By beginning of January this year I already had more than half of my funds...

Kenya: preparing the way

Kenya: preparing the way
God is doing a new thing in Global Challenge this year by sending teams into the world without Global Challenge staff members as leaders. This sounded very daunting at first, but its actually such an opportunity to build next level faith. Now we can not rely on previous experiences, but have to truly trust Jesus in every choice and situation. It is after all the same Holy Spirit guiding all of us. At the foot of the Ngong hills, just outside Nairobi we had the opportunity to serve at Harvest School, where 21 Kenyan kids go to school knowing Jesus...
