"Pot-luck" lunch Peruvian style

Today we returned to the village where God had done miracles and several community members had accepted the Lord the previous day. Again, we were allowed to speak to the school children. This time, we did a drama about how sins become burdens in your life and weigh you down and how Christ comes and wants to take our burdens from us. All we have to do is give them to Him and He will throw them as far as the east is from the west. After this drama, we again shared the gospel message and asked the kids if there were any of them that wanted give their life and their burdens to God. At this invitation, 18 kids came forward and we were able to pray for them! We then gave all the school children, teachers and some parents New Testaments. Again, people from the community came for prayer. Women were healed from body pains, sickness of their whole body and chest pain. More people came to know Christ and more people came from their homes for prayer!  Again, God was faithful and showed His glory to those people!

After praying for the people, we were invited to join them for lunch. But, it was not just any lunch,

TOGO.... ‘To go’ or not ‘To go’

‘The Ground of Unrelenting Magnetic Force that detained us for a Greater Purpose and Undeserved Reward....’ We left Benin with a taxi that seated up to nine people excluding the driver.  We have become very accustomed to this cosy public transport arrangement.   There are usually animals among the passengers, this time we just had a live guinea fowl behind the back seat. The border crossing from Benin to Togo was a very smooth procedure which led us to the land of unpredictability.  The beautiful landscape and climate of Benin rolled out into Togo like a carpet and did not yield...

Kenya: preparing the way

Kenya: preparing the way
God is doing a new thing in Global Challenge this year by sending teams into the world without Global Challenge staff members as leaders. This sounded very daunting at first, but its actually such an opportunity to build next level faith. Now we can not rely on previous experiences, but have to truly trust Jesus in every choice and situation. It is after all the same Holy Spirit guiding all of us. At the foot of the Ngong hills, just outside Nairobi we had the opportunity to serve at Harvest School, where 21 Kenyan kids go to school knowing Jesus...

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Words cannot describe our time in Cobrex, Brazil at Wesleyana Methodist Church. Our time there officially began back in Itatiaia, our previous ministry point 3 hours away. Pastor Marcos from Cobrex traveled all the way to Itatiaia for a half hour visit, just because he was so keen on having our team come to his church. Our whole team spent time in prayer at separate ministry points and we both felt the need to be separated again in Rio. So on we went, the yellow team to Wesleyana Church. We were told that some individuals in the church could...

Whata Great Wall

Hector on a mission!Written by Hector:

We have been in China for almost 2 weeks now and it is about time show you what is happening in China lately.

The latest event was a visit to the Great Wall which was really great as you can see on photo beside.

The previous two weeks we were kind of "Stepping on toes" as described by Sulene, so with Sulene's consent (I hope) I have added part of her email to explain more...

Africa Challenge - Red Team

If Jesus became human today, would He come to the rich city suburbs, travelling abroad with the best airlines, claiming the priviledges He as God deserves? Or maybe He’ll be born into the Zambian village that don’t know where they’re gonna find food for the coming year, because their crops were destroyed in the floods; He might just take the overnight bus to Lusaka, not complaining when they take an hour’s detour to report an accident; maybe He’ll rejoice in waiting 3 hours for a taxi to depart, appreciating the delay as an opportunity to minister. Perhaps Jesus will trade His warm bed for Rustenburg’s taxirank and wake at 4:00 to listen to the stories of nightguards and drunks.

Been there

The west point of Africa! Been there done that and no t-shirt!   It marked the start of Willem's and myself 1400km hitch hike to Bamako. Traveling one gets use to drug and smoking offers, some countries worse then others and some none at all. The 1st was the case with the west most point of Africa. There sitting amongst the rocks with the waves crashing in the back ground 3 young men where smoking and high on something. Trying to convince us that drugs, weed and dirty sex is way of life it  was pointless trying to convince them...

Preparing the way...

Hi, my name Jean and this is my first blog, which I am writing from Ubatuba Brazil! I am 21 years old, from Cape Town South Africa, and I like to surf and be outdoors in the wild-a true John the Baptist at heart! I was a carpenter and truck driver before coming to Global Challenge.

You never appreciate what you have until it's gone.

Sure, everyone has heard that phrase before. But does one understand what it truly means? I've lost a lot of things in my life. Too much to remember. Some so valuable that I'll never be able to replace it. Some I gave away, some were taken. Do I understand now how valuable they actually were? No. Not fully. Will I? I suppose so... Time will reveal the value to me. Time has revealed the value of some things to me. Some things I've taken for granted for most of my life. I'm not talking about a new iPhone, a Mac...

A nations hope in the hands of a five year old.

The hope of a nation.

Written by Elzet - 19 May 2008

The dominating religion in Thailand is Buddhism, and because of all the foolish offerings and worship to Buddha, the future and hope of this nation lies within the children.

Deep within the poverty of Thailand, where families are struggling to provide enough food and not all the children can go to school, the streets are lined with spirit houses. The sun is reflecting off the gold statues and it is surrounded with bright coloured flags...
