Where the jungle book lives

Where the jungle book lives The best way to retell the next bit of my venture, must be to start with where I am at. You'll find me, under a large tree, with plastic wrapped lights and a dripping glass of cold water, it is almost the hottest part of the day, and my soul has longed for a quiet clean place, as it has seen many salt & sandy places. We just spent three weeks in Guyana, the country tightly fit between Brazil and Suriname. A country where kisses are blown freely, army officers, and mountains of rice. But...

En Route Morocco

En route Morocco Currently I'm writing from this very trendy hostel in Morocco. Imagine Moroccan architecture, soft music and chilled vibes along with good coffee. This all is very welcoming after spending two nights on two different airports across three different continents. Yep, that's what went down - four cities, three flights, two nights in airports (a sleeping bag, inflatable mattress and pillow make a formidable combination in any situation!). The journey is obviously not about just the country - there's a lot more to it. And when choosing the cheapest way of traveling a thing I would like to...

Been there

The west point of Africa! Been there done that and no t-shirt!   It marked the start of Willem's and myself 1400km hitch hike to Bamako. Traveling one gets use to drug and smoking offers, some countries worse then others and some none at all. The 1st was the case with the west most point of Africa. There sitting amongst the rocks with the waves crashing in the back ground 3 young men where smoking and high on something. Trying to convince us that drugs, weed and dirty sex is way of life it  was pointless trying to convince them...

CAMBODIA: seeing the hope for change

Cambodia. At first when you think of Cambodia, you would probably think of the horrific things that have happened here in the past. When I first realized that I was coming here, I thought the same thing. Now that I am here, I don’t think of that at all.

Hands of the Carpenter

It has been the time of my life so far here at Global Challenge Expeditions, being part of something big. Learning and growing so much about God and to see how He is working is just mind blowing. From preaching to seeing the world, from laughter to tears of joy and sometimes tears of knowing and seeing that people don't know the Saviour of the world: Jesus Christ. In the last few weeks God taught me something that in so many ways changed my life and it also crushed my heart. While doing the work of God you think you...

Cuba

Cuba
"Cuba is a communist country and there is no internet". This is all we knew as we entered the first country on our list for this year. We had no contacts, accommodation or mission that we had to accomplish, except to follow the Holy Spirit. After 32 hours of travelling from South Africa we arrived at Havanna airport in Cuba at 2 AM. After spending the night on the airport we went into the city the next day to find accommodation in Havanna. After a few days of rest and prayer we felt led to go to Santiago, which was...

Training almost over... adventure awaits!

Dear friends,  We have now only one week of Training in Jbay left, on the 3rd of march we will take a plane from Johannesburg to Turkey. I'm really excited to meet new people, get to know a new country, new culture, etc.  The last days in training has been a big blessing for us, we could join amazing sessions and had failureship together.  I also get to know some Germans of the organization "christian surfers", who joined us for some evening sessions. It feels like the world is so small :) It seems like more and more people from...

TO BE A LIGHT AND A MODEL…

Recently, a book titled Principle Centered Leadership caught my eye when I visited my Mom.  Stephen R Covey captured my attention quickly in the first chapter and very soon I came across a line he used that almost jumped right out of the page and was highlighted in my thoughts ever since.
“The challenge”, he said, “is to be a light, not a judge and to be a model, not a critic.”

Kenia - LiveYourWay2018

Mar
Kenya was...
