Northbound's first step of faith into India...

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne  of God ...[Hebrews 12:2]

Mission impossible .......? Never!

Four days ago our team woke up with a mission. Just a mission. We knew what we had to do. We needed to get to Tibet. As we were trying to make this plan a reality, we realised that this is a lot bigger than just us.

Cuban Tourist

This is one of the most intense, unpredictable, mind blowing, captivating, speechless processes I have been through in my life. Some days I just sit and stare because I don't even know where to begin processing or debriefing or evaluating the experience. Like a blank space just fills my head. I get up, take a shower, get on a truck with 14 other people, and go help clean a yard. And then it happens. That unpredictable thing. The pastor tells you that it is a gift from God that the team came today because it's almost their two year birthday...

Driftwood

Wow what a month! The first couple of weeks in training have already been an  adventure in its self and I have so many amazing story's, revalations and testimonies to share. I don't have much time now but I do want to share one idea that has been pressed on my heart for this year and for the future. We are called to be driftwood.

God's ways are better than our ways!

Ps25:1-10

"In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. "

The Journey Begins

When one hears that someone is training for an adventure mission trip they usually have no idea what type of training it is. One person asked me if training included an obstacle course or something...you should have seen my face...I cannot imagine myself actually making it through an obstacle course. It would be a lot like ....like....like....well like something no one wants to see basically. I am not the most fit person in the world at all. So I quickly expelled that thought from my mind and decided that the best course of action was to expect the unexpected.  ...

GOD SET US APART FOR 40 DAYS…

If anyone should ask me how GCX08 ended up at FCE’s six week disciple equipping course in the middle of Zambia, my answer would be…

“It is all GOD - our Father who orchestrated this whole thing!  The One who called us and who set us apart.

Himalayan First!

GC leadership has this strange way to give it away. Somehow we always anticipate when a challenge is on its way. It might have something to do with the sly smiles on their faces or how they manage to change a subject when it gets to close for comfort. The India Challenge was no exception! When our lecturer announced that we should close our eyes and listen carefully, Ann and Anthony could hardly contain themselves. One can hardly blame them, they knew what was ahead and this challenge is worthy of a few giggles. First we helped the locals and...

Project vs pilgrimage

8 months to travel Africa, 2 months to prepare… How do we make that as effective as possible? Where do you go, where do you stay? What do you do and what do you pray? I can think of a 100 programs to run, we can plan everyday of a 8 month journey and head out to fix the world, with the superman song playing in the background. Somehow I hear the words “sweet surrender” in the back of my head. Could be that we are not called to fix Africa with strategic planning and a 100 projects? Could it...
