After a year and a half of preparation and excitement overload, the journey has begun! My heart had been stirring for missions and when Global Challenges was mentioned in conversation, this overwhelming peace flowed over me and a resounding, "Yes! This is what I've been searching for!" echoed within.  One of the highlights of training so far has been the revelation of how I see God. The team was listening to some worship and a line of the song mentioned something about seeing Him. Now, I am a very visual person and an animal lover so bear with me here....

Traveling is fun and seeing the monument and wonder of the world is something that everybody has the chance to do. I enjoy that part of the journey as well, but there is something I realized by going to places like this. There are 2 big groups of wonder to see. The one is "man made." This is a human mind that thought about something and humans that created it. (e.g. Taj Mahal & Pyramids) Sure it is big and must have taken a long time to make,  it has a significance, but for me it is just missing something.

If you are bored, I carry good news! You have not yet discovered it. Do you find yourself compromising good to find excitement at your expense? Secretly you must know you are not from here?

A form is something that seems real looks like it's the real deal but it's not reality. I thought in my head I new God but he was only in my head, but now that I'm here in Turkey Istanbul I'm realising that God is real and alive he is the one that we can trust. "A ship in a harbour is safe, but that is not what a ship was designed for" To be at home safe, guarded and chilled-back seems like the life but what what kind of life is it when you do not go beyond the walls of safety and have an adventure? These past few weeks God came to shift my comfort walls to a point where I was faced with situations that I was ready to give up on everything I ever believed was true. So what was the challenge? Travelling across 2000km in 5 days with no travel money. 2500km, 28 lifts and 1 train later we made it! 😬 In our prayers before our journey, the three of us had a theme of the ocean, horizon, sun on our faces and wind in our hair. I believed that God wanted us to purely enjoy the road trip that he was taking us on. Just take in all of His glorious creation and acknowledge His presence along side us. We met wonderful and generous humans, we laughed, we sang, and no, we didn't cry!...

I’ve tried to summarize the start of my Global Journey. The time here has been phenomenal, God has been teaching me about dependence on Him and has stripped me of self-sufficiency. I have learnt about pride, friendship, to live to love and I have seen His face all around me. I hope this gives you a little bit of insight into what I’ve been experiencing. They said "#imagine", and we asked "what can we do?".... craziest commitment ever It's almost like a really bad poem that ends beautifully with a lot of life lessons in it. Work hard, don't stop. Offense is a choice, don't waist food, don't get attached, you need friends, good friends. And you are gonna need a moment. Growing is something we can do on beautiful days, you know? Like a day you too would sing about. But I do not care so much for those days because windy, bad, sunny, crazy warm, not beautiful days you can grow on too...
