Identity in Jesus

IMG-20180210-WA0004
When I arrived on the 10th of January in Jeffreys Bay to start our training for "Global challenge expeditions" , it was mostly the first and the last word of the name that got me excited. Little did I know how much God is going to "Challenge" me to grow in a closer relationship with Him and become more like Him. Louw often says we need to look for opportunities to serve (and there are many times that these opportunities present themselves). I saw myself as someone that enjoys to help and serve people. And it is true to the...

In the presence of a world Wonder

IMG-20190321-WA0029
Well, I guess some people will like to hear about our camel ride in the shadows of Giza's pyramids, or maybe something about what the Nile river looks like, but Egypt confronted me with something a little more significant. It came in the form of a question that was placed on my heart during our last couple of days, and it sounds something like this: When last has 'going to church ' been a decision of laying down your life in order to experience just a little bit more of Him? And when I say "laying down your life," I'm...

Don't miss out on the beauty that surrounds you.

You can develop a healthy robust community that lives right with God only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other with honor and dignity. -James 3:18   I have heard missionaries say one of the hardest things they have dealt with and one of the biggest reasons why missionaries give up is other missionaries.    Jesus asks us to love and we think it sweet, untill...   -The dishes never gets done -Your spend hours cooking and they have the nerve to give you cooking tips and comments on how loud you are in the...

The beauty of the unexpected moments

IMG_20190419_131850
At 12- midnight our travelday began On a 9 hour busride from Rwanda to Uganda we set off.  Sleepy heads swaying side to side. A popping sound of a tire awakens us. Friends piggybackride eachother into the dark to do 'short call'  12- midnight again we were off to India. 12- noon we left the airport, not aware of the adventure that awaited us.  So we set forth with a limited budget, 20 kgs on our backs with a day bag in the front. Minds set on the dormitory 3km from the airport. Trying to stay strong, the humid and...

Best Trade Ever

Best Trade Ever
I am tired of fighting with my flesh! My flesh is so strong. I really understand the verse: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak - Matt. 26:41. I will sit in a praise and worship session and struggle to get myself to enter into God's presence. I know I want to be there, I know I will meet God there, but it takes so much effort to get there. I am so tired of it! I just want my flesh to die now! I am tired of failing in laying myself down and keep on serving others....

Going back in time

Going to Nepal I felt like I was taken back to the Bible time. When you read about golden idols that people made and worshipped you don't really comprehend the intensity of it untill you see it for youself. Here I found 100 meter tall Hindu god statues on mountain tops covering Nepal with a dark atmosphere. The people of Nepal is 80% hindu. And in the Hindu culture they literally have millions of gods. My heart broke for these people worshipping their dead gods, but the good news is that the Lord is moving in Nepal. We connected with...

Jesus is an artist...

Sitting here, staring at a screen and trying to think of words that I can use to fill this blank space. Trying to find the words to describe what Jesus has done in my heart and all the things I have experienced during Training 2017. As I think back, I am absolutley speechless and all I can do at this moment is praise God because he is truly amazing!!! I wrote a poem (more like a descriptive paragraph) in training, I think it is a good way to kick start this new thing, called blogging and to share some of...

Out of the trenches and into the battle with the Lord.

At the beginning of this year I got a prophecy by Uncle Joe. He said he sensed that I was one who has dug the trenches, has been in the trenches and fought the battle from the trenches, but the Lord said it is time to get out of the trenches. To go up and over and into the battle with the Lord, and that the Lord will win the battle on my behalf because the battle belongs to the Lord. I can honestly say that this prophesy has become true. At the beginning of the year I was a...

HOME

I remeber getting off at the airport in Panama and almost tearing up when I saw a Toyota Hilux in thr parking bay. Even though Cuba was a phenominal experience, there was something comforting in seeing vehicles and technology we are use to, it felt like home. From sharing testimonies in prison and to a old general in the Panamanian riots, handing out tracks and sharing the good news in parks and in public and having the previledge of sharing our stories on a Panama radio station, Pastor Bill from Gamboa Union Church left a lasting impression. His way of...
