Jordan

Jordan
"Oh Lord, let's sit on the highest mountain." I want you to touch my eyes and open them to the nations. There are so many, but so little time. You look at me with an expression on your face implicating that I have to give more thought to my previous statement. Time? Time is a man-made concept . ''My love, you've got all the time in the whole world, because the world is mine and I give it to you. The world and the nations are your inheritance." Psalm 2:8 "Look.'' He pointed over the nations. ''What do you see?''...

Lekker!

As a team we are all starting to realize that we are moving towards the end of our 1 year journey. Rice has become our comfort food and we can probably write a book on all the jokes we made about it. The idea of any ending makes me feel sad, but where there is a beginning there is obviously an ending. It's a repeating cycle we constantly face and we always make such a big deal about it!  What I have realized is that the closer you get to the end, any ending, the more you would want it...

My plans or God's plans....

images.jpeg-2
I didn't expect to be doing a journey this year. There wasn't a thought about Global Challenge in my mind, but God had other plans.    One thing that we must realise is that God's plans are better than our dreams. I had other plans for 2019, but it wasn't the right plans. So on the 9th of January, a day before training started, I talked to Louw Burger and Reinhardt Foley and that's where my journey started. Unprepared, nervous and with a sleeping bag the size of a tent I arrived at GLA the next day.   God started...

India

India
Incredible India When the wheels of the Boeing 747 touched the runway all memories stopped and reality parked at the door of my heart. The summer heat of India embraced me like a loved one and it is holding as if in fear of losing me. The aroma of spices awakened my smell senses and familiarity rushed through my mind. The taxi ride was like a movie playing back a reminder of how incredible India is. The streets are filled with people, riksjas, bicycles, playing children, cows, busses, and cars.  The sound of business shouts from all the corners...

Gracias Cuba

Gracias Cuba  You welcomed us with open arms, just to be here was a blessing, meeting people, making friends, fellowship with the young people learning Spanish. What I learned in Cuba it's that its important to have a relationship with God and the people. Jesus is asking do you love me?If you do then feed my lambs, take care of my sheep. So my time in Cuba was about fellowship with the body of Christ and with unbelievers so that thy can be drown to God's Love. And we saw that.

The beauty of beauty

IMG_20190829_222151
This is something I started writing quite a while ago but I never finished it because I felt that I needed to perfect it in some way. But I realized the truth is that our daily (and what we sometimes feel as insignificant) struggles are very real. Sometimes the healing process is a continuous journey.    Everything is not always as perfect as an instagram post. Too many people compare their happiness these days based on the posed happiness they see on social media.  So in all realness and vulnerability..    I've been struggling and journeying a lot on beauty...

The end of Egypt

Our time at Think and do was fun. Frikkie and I sanded a couple of doors and painted a whole bunch of Iron bars. The rest of the team weeded the soccer field and the farm tunnels.

I guess we'll wing it

32152421_10216391844727633_7280749146233896960_n
So when you're traveling and don’t have a planned destination or any idea of how you're gonna get there, the best thing to do is just wing it! That’s what we did in the middle east, hitchhiking  from one place to another and sleeping in abandoned buildings and weird beaches, asking soldiers for water and eating rice with way to much salt and then with way to little salt. We were eating too much chocolates and bread (that we got from nuns) and just generally getting to know each other more, building relationship together chatting about life and living the...

Laos unforgotten

A rising sun I found    glimpses shimmering on the horizen, the future Lao I found in the eyes of the nation Deep into the nation we went not yet deep in our harts it is now The music beats on and we travel to a new sun Confusing thoughts presist as the faces pass by  Life here now continues as on this bench my head sadly lie.   The Lao people truely touched my heart. Yes, this massive family church and their joyful way of life, amidst the oppression, touched a part of my heart I never knew I...
