AUSTRALIA- work Your way 2010

GCEX 2010 work Your way in AUSTRALIA   For sure I can say that my favourite country Australia has become this year. We were placed in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains, where we served for two months with hard work and leading camps for children. Mountain Trails is a Christian camp, which works with different activities, like horse riding, dirt bikes, activities with ropes, etc. And through the activities will share the Gospel with the children.   We worked on different jobs, building fences for horses, building four little houses for "bike camps" cut and chop wood, jobs with...

The Sand Storm of Egypt!

The Sand Storm of Egypt!
Imagine living in place that has a thick cloud constantly hovering over you (that is pollution and dust), a place where dust storms and different heats are your seasons, a place where honking and swerving to the right and left is a constant part of driving, a place where stories of persecution and someone passing away that you know is normal, a place where women need to be aware and covered to protect themselves, and a place where rioting and unrest is felt. There are so many words needed to explain this country of Egypt. We’ve now been here just...

Dance In The Joy Of Serving...

Dance In The Joy Of Serving...
[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDKH9CBXnDY 400x400]   This video and photos are what happened when a group of us were helping out with sorting and packing clothes and shoes to be delivered to the needy in Jeffreysbay during our training. Some of us tried a few pieces on and what you see here is the result of that! Who said you couldn't enjoy yourself while serving!

Guatemala

When I think of Guatemala, I think of Chicken Busses (explenation will follow later), colourful markets, language chaos due to lack of Spanish skills and the story of Ben, the pastor.
Let me give you a better idea of what I am talking about...

A Challenging Israel

Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4   Hallo everyone!  Sorry for being quiet for such a long time, but now I have a great story to tell.  Well, we have been in Israel for 22 days, and how amazing it has been.  Before I tell you about the challenge, I want to tell you (in short) about our time in Israel.  We began by splitting the North team.  The Silver team worked at a YWAM base in Bethlehem.  The lime girls together with two of the blue team girls, helped at a school in Jerusalem. The rest of the...

Killing Fields...Living Fields

Killing Fields, Living Fields...   Even though this is the title of a book depicting the life and times of the church in Cambodia during one of the most recent human atrocities, it very much speaks about the country as a whole these days. A country that only came out of a bloody time of war and occupation as recently as 1993, it’s slowly busy recovering to its once promising future which was laid bare by a regime of brutality and inhumanity a mere 30 years ago when anyone who seemed to be influenced in any way by the Western...

Fence of Love

Fence of Love
In a community broken by neglect, insecurity, poverty and lack of parenting and opportunity, children are in need.  One in two children in the area are impacted by the effects of HIV/AIDS. As a result, children are deprived of their basic childhood needs. The Finifugal Traveler

10-cover
Finifugal used to simply be one of those pretty words that sounded cool if one of my english friends used it in a sentence. Little did I know that this word, that sounded like some or other Asian dish in one of Eastbound's stories, would gain meaning and reveal one of my hearts greatest fears. It is used to describe a person who fears endings, who tries to avoid the final moments of a story, relationship or some memorable journey. Someone who runs from goodbyes and prolong the ending of a good book. I used to be a finifugal traveler....
