BASECAMP.......FINDING MY FEET!

Wow......I cannot begin to describe these first 2 weeks at base camp. As you all know, we started on the 12 th of January (2 weeks ago) with our training here in Jeffrey's Bay. This was ‘n time of introspection.  Of really looking inside and lying it all on the table.   God came and spoke truth into my life and that is the way I want to start this year. It has been a hectic 2 weeks with a very busy schedule. Global challenge is helping at a school in the local community and we cleaned toilets, washed...

Silver team in Turkey

Silver team in Turkey
Welcome in Turkey was the sign as we entered baggage claim at the Istanbul airport after our short flight from Egypt! There is always excitement when entering a new country and this time is no different. After a trip of 9 hours on the bus from Istanbul the bus stopped in Kusadasi, 25km from Ephesus on the coast. While we waited for the guys to find accomodation, Obi entertained us by competing with a couple of kids street dancing. Aunt Fielie, Nita, Dinnie and Marelize joined us for our time in Turkey and there is great expectation of what is...

Zanzibar: “In His law the Islands will put their hope”

“In His law the Islands will put their hope”  Is 42: 4 At 00:40 on 9 December our team of four will leave for Zanzibar – an island off the cost of Tanzania. We have seen the Lord change hearts before and trust Him for even more this time. Our mission is to encourage the church to stand strong and equip them to make an even bigger difference. We will visit both the institutional church and a few house churches. Though we are only a few going for only two weeks, I trust the Lord to do big things in...

Me be templing mon!

Weet jy nie, weet jy nie jys 'n tempel? / Don't you know you are a temple?   The last little while I've been reminded of this children's song; being a temple and what that means. The song speaks of being a temple for the Holy Spirit. Spending some time in 1 Peter as a d-group we discussed what it means to build our "spiritual house" on the cornerstone of Christ. Not by chance I am also busy journeying through Kings, the story of the extravagant building by Solomon; a place for God to live, for His glory to...

A spine-straightening testimony

A spine-straightening testimony

Since my scoliosis operation in July of 2010, I have been hearing the words "You will never" quite often. "You will never carry more than 10 kilograms at a time"... "You will never be able to walk more than 5 kilometers at once"... "You will never be able to ride a bicycle again"... "You will never be able to do road-running again".

Physical barriers constructed through medical precautions prevented me from being able to do all the things I wanted to. I valued my doctor's opinion more than my God's opinion.

Global Challenge Transkei Projects

[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9U-nlH4olA 100x100] On the 3rd of February, Global Challenge Expeditions will be sending their teams to the Transkei, a rural area in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.  The area is know for its poverty and soaring AIDS statistics.  The teams will be serving the needy people of the Transkei at two locations: The Mahosheni AIDS Project and the Coffee Bay Christian School.  The need in this area is so big and the funding too scarce to make ends meet.  Please help us in our efforts to help the people of the Transkei. God Bless The GCEX Team

What a Woman of God REALLY Looks Like

What a Woman of God REALLY Looks Like
Hello everyone!!           So this is officially the first blog post of the year- hopefully the first of many!! So I will be writing a little unconventionally- I feel like there is a lot of explaining going on about what we have been doing for the last 3 weeks. I don't really feel like explaining today, so instead I will give a few word description of what we did and and how I felt about it or what I learned. I hope you enjoy!   Training started January 9th: After 2 days of traveling, I am...

You could at least have said thank you

Oh my word, he could at least have said thank you!! The way we as humans expect 'thank yous' is crazy, it's reminds me of us being made in the image of God. He wants our praise and for us to glorify Him, but as soon as we make ourself the main one, the god, AKA self hasn't fallen yet, we expect that praise for ourselves. I need to get to a point of totaly doing, without expecting any gratitude. Furthermore we don't need praise from people at all! When you want praise you live for yourself. Romans 2: 29...

God Provides

Clara and her

14 February 2008 - Red Hill

Yesterday we said that we can’t wait to see what God was going to do today. Nothing of course prepared us for what happened.
We had already spent almost R40 000 on material for the township and needed to spend about another R30 000 to get most of the residents of the ground.
A lot of the money spent we hadn’t received yet but came from our budget which is suppose to go for different projects.
This morning as we started our day Floyd invited all of us to listen to the Holy Spirit and hear what amount he is laying on our hearts to give. Because we first have to open our hearts before we can expect others to give.
