I was a child of war (Sudan blog)

I was a child of war (Sudan blog)
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I was a child of war . Born in a land without books and writing, a land where history was carried on your mother’s tongue and in the songs of your village, a land swallowed up by war even as I uttered my first cry. And so, even the date of my birth was lost when my world was lost to me. Me and the lost boy Lino Kaman (left) Soldiers came in on their horses with their guns, burning down the village, killing the men and raping the woman. I heard cries for...

PRAY FOR INDIA

PRAY FOR INDIA, PRAY FOR INDIA, PRAY FOR INDI-AAA!!! This is the song the girls taught us to dance to while we were there earlier this year...  We've been remembering again and again to pray for the orphanages, their staff, each of the children who crept so deeply into our hearts, the country and all the Christians who live there. Since the end of August the State of Orissa has been facing severe persecution.  Many have died as martyrs and thousands are left homeless after churches and villages had been burnt to the ground.  I remember the verses God used...

...from India to South Africa...

...from India to South Africa...
An amazing year it was. Before returning back home, we visiting our last country to realize again the great impact one can make by just giving it all - in INDIA. We traveled into India with the great prospect to serve and love greatly… but instead we were loved just as much and even more. We found ourselves in Kota at Immanuel orphanage; working during the early morning hours & using the afternoons and evenings to spend with the children. We were teaching them about the Bible and the stories of Jesus, by means of dramas. In Kota working......

African Heartbeat

The African silence crept back into my heartand made its home in me today: Peace and rest and waiting Speaking in different languages braiding hair, eating fruit and sharing stories 'n Child sleeping silently on my lap A slowly-bumping vehicle, Rolling out mats in the shade of a tree Being together, speaking and laughing without words This is the Africa that I know. And the fellowship of the Spirit Now, the heat is becoming more bearable and the longing melts away And in this I get to know Youand the heartbeat of Africa Thank You that You came to do...

Going places...with God

Going places...with God
When you find the truth in life, what earthly thing can be good enough?  Christ is all, and is in all. To know a King and have a relationship with Him is mind blowing. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.   And surly I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Matt 28:19-20 I am very excited about next year, expecting awesome stuff. You could at least have said thank you

Oh my word, he could at least have said thank you!! The way we as humans expect 'thank yous' is crazy, it's reminds me of us being made in the image of God. He wants our praise and for us to glorify Him, but as soon as we make ourself the main one, the god, AKA self hasn't fallen yet, we expect that praise for ourselves. I need to get to a point of totaly doing, without expecting any gratitude. Furthermore we don't need praise from people at all! When you want praise you live for yourself. Romans 2: 29...

I’m writing from the vibrant little Ubatuba (which is the surfing capital of Brazil).  This place is breathtakingly beautiful and the people are so dynamic and vibrant. I can't even begin to explain how crazy this all feels, I seriously feel like I'm in a movie it’s so surreal!

Be fruitful and multiply

Be fruitful and multiply
In all honesty, I have grown accustomed to thinking of God as some spiritual being way up in the atmosphere, looking down at us humans with disappointment.    With Veritas Training this week, that mindset has shifted.    The first time God spoke to Man was in Genesis 1:28 - "Be blessed". A two-worded statement that sums up the Lord's heart for His people.   After the fall of Man, God did not first reprimand them for their sin. His first words were "Where are you?" It is as if He was asking their permission to approach them , testing to see...
