In Ferrenafe we received a much needed South African welcome from our Peru hosts, Oom Hendrik en Tannie Ronel Groenewald. After an amazing and exhausting journey from Peru to Guatemala we have finally arrived! Here, we are based in a small touristy type town nestled in what appears to be mountains surrounding a lake. At a closer look, these mountains are actually volcanoes and the lake is just that is a huge crater from a previous standing volcano. Panajachel is a tranquil little town. Everywhere you look, the Guatemalan people are catering to the tourists that pass through. But if you look closely, you will see the people remaining true to their culture.
