Peru

From Colombia we took a VERY long busride through Equador and after about 56hours we were finally in Peru. In Ferrenafe we received a much needed South African welcome from our Peru hosts, Oom Hendrik en Tannie Ronel Groenewald. Tannie Ronel greeted us with: ''Come inside, I have rusks and coffee for you.'' With the mention of rusks we were almost in tears.   In Ferrenafe we rested a few days and ate Tannie Ronel's South African meals. From Ferrenafe we went to Trujillo to present a workshop on Global Challenge. The people of Trujillo welcomed us with open arms...

Luke 10 - Who would want the easy way?

Luke 10 - Who would want the easy way?
When we prayed for Luke 10, I asked not for the easy way, but for God's way.  I want to grow in faith...  So, when the rest of Southbound headed north, Yellow team made our way down south, and what an incredible journey it was!   Okay, so from Takuapa (Thailand) we as Yellow team headed for Vietnam.  Receiving many confirmation that that’s where we have to go.  Many of the words we got, involved boats, so we felt lead to go down to Songkla (Thailand) and get a boat from there.  From leaving the house, we were blessed by...

Metamorphosis

"You've changed." One sentence that people either yearn to hear, or dread to accept. As people our tendency is, it seems, to fear change. One will always claim to be 'embracing' change but the reality is actually that their inner being is still trying to defend and hold on to whatever it is has that has supposedly 'changed'. I mean we're perfect right? Why would we need or want to change? Most believers will tell you how God changed their heart. Myself included. I'm talking about a complete transformation, a revolution of the highest caliber. Pride shattering, character building, grace...

London and Egypt- Blessings

London and Egypt- Blessings
Greetings from Dahab, Egypt. It has really been a long while since I have written so I will try my best to fill in the gaps. After a wonderful week in Mexico City the rest of the team arrived and we could finally all travel to the airport and fly off to London. With great excitement we waited for our flight call, but it just kept on getting later and later. At first we thought it is just "Mexico Time" but soon realized that something was wrong. Our flight was canceled and would only leave the next day! But God...

Doing Guatever God has for us ...in Panajachel, Guatemala

After an amazing and exhausting journey from Peru to Guatemala we have finally arrived! Here, we are based in a small touristy type town nestled in what appears to be mountains surrounding a lake. At a closer look, these mountains are actually volcanoes and the lake is just that is a huge crater from a previous standing volcano. Panajachel is a tranquil little town. Everywhere you look, the Guatemalan people are catering to the tourists that pass through. But if you look closely, you will see the people remaining true to their culture.

Laying foundations for future generations
35 Global Challengers, 3 log homes, 1 Week, NO Funds...BUT UNLIMITED FAITH!   Global Leadership Academy, born out of Global Challenge Expeditions, is currently situated in a Mall in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa.  We have been blessed with 5ha of undeveloped land and a vision to create an eco-friendly school campus.  Phase 1 of the building project is currently underway, but more manpower and finances are needed.  As part of their training, the new Global Challenge participants are supporting GLA this week in laying the foundations for the next 3 log homes.
