Peru

From Colombia we took a VERY long busride through Equador and after about 56hours we were finally in Peru. In Ferrenafe we received a much needed South African welcome from our Peru hosts, Oom Hendrik en Tannie Ronel Groenewald. Tannie Ronel greeted us with: ''Come inside, I have rusks and coffee for you.'' With the mention of rusks we were almost in tears.   In Ferrenafe we rested a few days and ate Tannie Ronel's South African meals. From Ferrenafe we went to Trujillo to present a workshop on Global Challenge. The people of Trujillo welcomed us with open arms...

Mysterious Morocco

Small and crooked streets path open the ways in the Medina, a true Moroccan old city. Behind every corner lies a new alley to explore and a new adventure that awaits. The streets are lined with colourful objects, food stalls billow with smoke and a new smell that urges you to taste the traditional food. The streets are filled with laughing children, running around and playing games. Behind you there's someone shouting pardon! and the next moment you are almost face to face with a donkey pulling a cart through the narrow streets. From all around you there are friendly people...

Some photos of Zanzibar

Some photos of Zanzibar
The beauty of Zanzibar is absolutely breath taking.  We will forever be thankful that God brought us to this unique little island to witness the great things He's doing all over the world. Our first ministry point was Chuini just north of the island's capital, Stone Town.  The pastor we stayed at has a spice farm and we helped out on the farm for a day.  Unfortunately it started to rain (like it does almost every day on Zanzibar).  While we were waiting for the rain to clear up one of the workers quickly made each one of us an...

Let's go do exploits

Let's go do exploits
And so we are off!   Here we go! We go because we are called, we go because there is a need and we are willing to meet that need, we go to proclaim that there is only one way to a full life, a life of meaning, but above all we go because we are loved and long to share that love. We long to see His Kingdom come and we believe with everything in us that the gospel is the power to save and so we go UNASHAMED. We go to live in all the promises that have...

New Zealand – a glimpse on life after GCX

Looking back on our time in New Zealand, this has been the most difficult country for me to be in.  The contrast compared to what I've experienced in India, is significant.  On first sight, this country looks perfect.  There's no sign of poverty or people struggling to keep head above water.  Everyone's got all they need and more.  And this was one of the things that hit me the moment we arrived.  Driving towards our destination a sadness overwhelmed me.  The kind of sadness that accompanies the sight of people who have all they want, who's lives are going well...

In the silence...

In the silence, in a quiet place, In the stillness you are there... Our stay in Jerusalem surprised me on a personal level. I had so many expectations to visit all the religious places of Jesus' life,  and of his crucifixion. I had an expectancy to have  wonderful feelings of joy overwhelm me when in the supposed resting place of Jesus' body, or the Mount of Olives. The real eye opener was when I visited Bethlehem to see where Jesus was born. The exact spot is marked with immense fanfare and pomp, and a continous flood of tourists ensure that the space...
