Challenge number 3 in just 9 days….

img_6519_small.jpgWe experienced a lot in these last few days. We slept like logs in the evenings, because we had a “strenuous” schedule. We had to do a lot of awesome activities as part of our challenge.

WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE

WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE
Arriving in Delhi, we spent our first hours in India at the airport while waiting for our leadership's flight form South Africa to arrive.  This gave us time to catch up on what happened in Malaysia and Thailand.  After their arrival we had our first exposure to Indian traffic -  at 22h00 even peak traffic in SA does not match up to this.  And there was even more to come in the following week. After spending a day in Delhi, visiting the markets and making sure we've all got the necessary cultural sensitive apparal needed, it was of to the...

Thailand.......you stole my heart!!!!

Thailand.......you stole my heart!!!!
Col3:15 "And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful." Okay, yes, the pink team did make history!!!!!!! We won our first challenge. I think by now everyone heard how awesome our race from Kuala Lumpoer(Malaysia) to Phukhet(Thailand) was and how God provided for us all the way. A few highlights were riding on elephants, the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpoer and the amusement park, but most of all the people. The people blessed us so much. They gave us...

Treasures of the heart.

me_and_elbe_having_fun.jpgThailand - 26 May 2008

We spent the last 3 weeks in Thailand and what a blessed time we had. Our team was in Phuket for 5 days and formed part of an intersession ministry. We joined the red team and spent 2 weeks with Pastor Wasan near Pang Nha, north of Phuket. We build houses for less-privileged people, had a kids-program...

The H A R D facts about traveling

The H A R D facts about traveling During a mid year de-briefing in a parent visit to our team, we were asked to answer and share the next 11 questions. Here follows a non mystical approach to my experience up till now 1. The weirdest and most horrible thing that I have eaten or drunk on this journey. Surprisingly the most horrible drink, was a strong canned malt drink served in a slum in Guyana. The drink tasted like molasses with a soy Souse type of consistency. The weirdest fruit was in Cuba, it looked like a brown skinned...

Irreplaceable Israel

One month ago, we sat/lay on the floor of Ben Gurion Int. Airport not knowing what to expect from Israel and having no idea what lay ahead. Today we sit in the same airport, wearing the same clothes as when we arrived (washed, of course) but our hearts are completely changed.   To put our Israel experience into words would be a great injustice as there are not nearly enough words in the English vocabulary to explain each one in detail.   Israel in a nutshell from each one of our teammates looks a little something like this:   David...

The scavenger

The scavenger
The Global Challenge scavenger is a very unique creature. Without a bashful cell in its body, it can often be sighted at various fast food locations across the globe. Being well trained in adaptation and survival, this scavenger can blend in effortlessly. With heightened observational skills, it can quickly scan a room and determine the statistical probability of success. Having no pressing obligations and often time in abundance while waiting for a flight, this patient creature can linger as long as it takes to ensure satisfaction.  Often the experienced scavengers (dubbed the scavenge king or queen) would adopt an apprentice...
