Rivers in the thirsty land

Rivers in the thirsty land
So Niger is really, really, really hot... It's like you are permanently in an oven, enclosed and overwhelmed by the heat... or so it felt! Well noramal day temperatures was a dry 38-43 degrees celcius in the shade. And it's not even the peak temperatures for the season. At night we sleep outside and pray that there would be no clouds... because the clouds do not contribute in bringing relief in the greenhouse effect over the country. Eish! That was the closest to desert-temperatures I ever got in my entire life! And there's people who loves that... Amidst the heat...

SPEED KILLS....

Ready Steady SOUTH 3!!! On your marks, get set, race!!! We are in the middle of our first challenge and this is the ultimate race of provision, God's provision! We had a slow start with a 5km hike, the sun burning down on us, 20kg on our backs, long road ahead staring us in the eyes and challenging us time and again. And miraculously a pick-up truck stopped next to us, offering us a ride to our next stop, this wasn't magic or a coinsidence, this was prayer! From there on God sent people (or was it angels), rides to...

Cheerful, United, Beauty, Arise aka: CUBA!

Before this year, the only thing I knew about Cuba was that Buena Vista Social Club is from there and something about a revolution, with a guy named Ché, who looks cool on handbags and t-shirts.  After being here for 3 weeks, I can tell you there is so much more to this long, narrow island in the Caribbean.

Mercy, mercy, mercy

I've recently felt lead to dive into the theme of mercy and to discover what it looks like. For in the passage of the Good Samaritan, a man is shown that his neighbor is the person who he has mercy on. The one that he helps physically, financially and emotionally after being beet up by robbers. God requires mercy and not sacrifice. Further on we learn about a master who forgives his debtor an enormous amount of money, whereafter he states "Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave even as I had mercy on you". It...

The thirstry

The thirstry
Our first few days in Turkey was resting and exploring with our hostel being right behind the Hagia Sophia museum. We had no ministry point here so we were trusting God to open new doors for us. So between just trying to process Israel and trying to soak up Istanbul, we took it pretty slow, praying on where we should go and what we should do. Our only other mission was to apply for our Macedonia visas, which we prayed about a lot. But God is good and the application process went super smooth, something that is impossible according to...

Still wanting more of Him...

Rice, rice and more rice...rice can be nice but rice with fish in Malaysia is something else, hehe, the boys got beaten by eating too much of the funny food and was man down for 2 days!!  But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!  We are visiting few migrant workers is really terrifying to hear their stories and how their lives were changed while living in Malaysia.  We heard that some of the children need to sell rice for money and the water that they use to dip the rice in is the only water they got, to drink, imagine the taste...

Challenging times in Kuala Lumpur

Looking back on our time in Kuala Lumpur, there is so much that I’ve experienced and seen in these 3 weeks, it’s impossible to share all of it.  Yet, I can say God’s been faithful

Operation- Storeroom Detoxification.

Greetings from New Zealand nice, cold, rainy weather in total contrast to nice hot, spicy India. Well it was a bit more than two weeks since the yellow team arrived at the Orphanage  in India and what a blessing we had there. After arriving we evaluated the place and saw where we would be of greatest help to the orphanage during our stay. So we decided to help clean the three storerooms. What we thought would be a quick one week job turned out to be mission impossible. Our first day as we started to clean the storeroom we spent most of...

What is man that You are mindful of him?

"When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars which You have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him?
and the son of man that you care for him?"

FIRST CHALLENGE 2010!

FIRST CHALLENGE 2010!
The Three Musketeers: Pieter, Shanine & Estelle embarked on our first challenge at 5am this morning. We had to dig for a liter of cola in the sand on the beach and down it as quickly as possible, after which some of us did not feel too well... ;) We packed our luggage tried to strategise about our tasks for the challenge and had a lovely breakfast. We received money to aid us in our challenge, but we also have to raise R100 each. We ventured into the location on a search for our beloved road buddy, but was unable...
