Traveling God's Highways - Part 1

The last time you heard from me was when we were at Stephan’s place in Hatyai in the south of Thailand.  Since then so much has happened.  I shall try to keep it short as I run you through Angelo, Henro and De Necker's adventures. Sunday the 8th marked the start of our Luke 10.  That meant that for the duration of the journey we had no access to personal or team money, no extra clothes than those that we were wearing and no plan.  We did have Bibles, toothbrushes, passports, I took the computer for blogging purposes and I...

WHY??

WHY??
Why Me?? Why?? Why did you grow up in a western country? Why did you get to go to school, get a family who has all they need, get a bed to sleep on and your own room? Why did you grow up knowing Jesus? Why did you get food everyday for three meals a day? Why did you get parents that are still alive? Why did you get to live in a place of oppurtunity where you have options? Why ME??? Why not the african kid sitting in the slum? Why not the orphan depressed and abandoned? Why not the...

Tibet - what an amazing journey!

Tibet - what an amazing journey!
NEPAL IS A COUNTRY RIGHT??? While we were in Shimla we prayed about where to go next, and the answer was without a doubt Nepal. First, I had to learn that Nepal was in fact a country, and not a city on it’s own. Yes, my Geography is not up to date about countries in Asia. It turns out that everyone who wants to climb Mount Everest comes to Nepal, so there were many tourists to reach... tourists in search of something more, and in fact, we really have the answer. And we know the perfect tourguide – because He...

The boy in blue

The boy in blue
All the people push at once, everyone demanding something else, a cheaper bus, to carry your luggage at a certain price of course, pushing and screaming in French... I'm at the bus station in St Louis, Senegal, and in the midst of the crowds I look down into two big eyes and a small hand asking... begging... begging for money, begging for food, begging for a mom and dad, for shelter, begging for love, begging for a chance to be a child again... The boy in his big blue shirt - or did it only seem big because his body...

Monsters in the dark

Monsters in the dark
As humans we instinctively fear the dark and the unknown that comes with it. We often imagine monsters lurking in the shadows - watching us, waiting to attack. As children we have night-lights and soft toys to comfort and protect us against these monsters, with a graceful parent to check under the bed every now and then. Once we reach adulthood the monsters change into more realistic things to fear such as burglars or LEGO blocks on the floor, anything that could cause physical harm. Either way we still approach the dark with caution and heightened senses, ignoring the...

"The Status" 'Warriors on the verge of breakthrough...'

“ The Status” 'Warriors on the verge of breakthrough...' The confusion of six youthful ambitious young warriors entered a battle field without the comfort of their leader. The older were exposed and the young were confused and manipulated beyond their human understanding falling in a hole so deep overflowing with emotions of the unknown world that lays beyond the walls of desperations for comfort. The call to stand stronger than ever before were on the verge of breakthrough and the time of testing their faith in their training has arrived at their doorstep of their hearts and minds,” will the...

Investing in Ubatuba, Brazil

Investing in Ubatuba, Brazil
“Where you invest your love, you invest your life”  - Mumford and Sons       Recently, I have been thinking about what it means to invest in relationships. Although that takes many different forms, shapes and sizes, there is one thing that is at the very foundation of a good solid investment…Love. In my experience, I have found it is easy to go throughout the day and be surrounded by people with which you talk to and work with, but I find that it is a totally different thing to stop and intentionally know that person. To know them is...
