The Clarity

Don’t renovate the hatesword_of_the_spirit.jpg
That separates
But restore the core
Of what Christ spake

Resurrect the circumspect
Of words
that uphold the bold
My soul is sold
Not to the words of this world,
The cold

Brazil

Brazil
Step by step we are walking on a road that has been prepared for us to walk on, by the Lord.  Stopping sometimes and thinking "is this for real" .  We are really overwhelmed by God's provision and guidance. The time in South America has from the beginning been a step of faith for us.  So many things were unsure and unplanned for this time.  But how great it is to now look back over these two weeks and see God's plans fall in place and His will being done.  Our first direction was to a prophet in Brazil.  He then...

Parties vs. Fellowship

Parties vs. Fellowship
Many of us, when we hear Bali, we think of the movie "Eat, pray, love".   An Indonesian island, predominantly Hindu, with cheap furniture.   A multitude of Westerners come here for the parties, surfing or a cheap vacation.   A few years ago I probably would've as well.   But there's so much more to Bali...       Our first few days in Bali, I felt very heavy hearted.   Idol worship, temples around every corner, people "kuiering", drugs openly available.   My mind felt so polluted. I didn't know what we were doing here?   But something...

The Living Proof

"Prove to me that your God is not dead!"     The straight forward, nearly aggressive demand of the stranger in the shopping center kept ringing through my ears... Who are you to claim that your god is the only True God, the only Living God?! You have the Bible, I have the Koran, you have faith, I have science. Prove to me that what you believe is the Truth! My insides cringed for a moment, my all too cozy corner of inferiority and self belittlement called out in the sweetest of voices, reminding me of exactly how far my...

India - the final stretch

India - the final stretch
And so our journey comes to an end as we spent our last 25days in India. This colourful and vibrant country was definitely nothing like I have seen before. We spent our first few days adapting to our surroundings and soaking up everything New Delhi has to offer: historic monuments, spice bazaar, street food, and a multitude of colours and smells. It was a pleasant yet overwhelming experience. Soon we boarded a 12hour train to the famous holy city of Varanasi. It is considered holy by the Hindu religion because of the river (the Ganges - that is said to...

Waterfalls near Hat Yai

Submitted by Elizma Myburgh

elizma_152.jpg
I remember my dad once wrote me a dramatic monologue to perform entitled "You need to climb the mountain to reach the star". How true those words are! Not funny at all that I were thinking on these when Sac took us up a mountain to see some waterfall ... Sac, it was worth every muscle-stretching step and thought of murder!!

Seeing God's World: Growing closer to Him!

Hello! So my name is Helen, I'm 21,  from Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand and I am super excited about joining global challenge for 2011. For the past three years I have been studying land planning and geography at the University of Otago and at the moment am in the midst of studying for final exams. While studying here I came to know God and have been challenged to live my life for Him. It has been a time of growing my relationship with Him and understanding what it means to truly be a follower of Jesus....

Not from here

Not from here   The Northbound journey is purposefully set up in a way to expose us to so many different aspects of the world. In the past 8 months we have visted nations with dominant religions of Islam, Hinduism, Bhuddism, Catholicism, Orthodox Christians and even atheism. We saw the effect of human governments on nations through failed capitalism and communism. We were confronted by the brutal effects of war, both current and historic. The Syrian refugee crisis followed us from Jordan through Turkey and into Europe. A historic natural disaster was fresh on the face of the nation of...
