Love is Simple

Love is Simple
This is Si, she can't really speak English, but yet, we talked for more than 30 minutes. The only thing she could tell me was that I reminded her of her grandchild, whom she hasn't seen for quite a long time, so I just smiled and with no rush spent that time with her. Love is simple. Thailand

Paraguay for the Home Run

Paraguay for the Home Run
To conclude our 8 month journey through South America we made a complete circle and returned to tropical green jungles with mango trees, red sand and rain storms. Here in Aragua they greet you with a fist pump, speak the Guarani language and give a profound "Amen y amen" at the end of prayers and church services. It is awesome to see what a huge percentage of church service time goes into prayer/conversation with God. After all, Jesus declared in Matt 21:13, "My house will be called a house of prayer." We were under the loving care of Belen and...

The Writer

There are good times, there are bad times, times of joy to the full, times of deep sadness, times we believe we are in control and times we clearly understand we are not. Do we know what will happen next in our lives? Certainly not. Although sometimes we wish we are able to. As many scenarios plays itself out in our lives, we begin to realise that the pen writing the story of our life is not in our own hands but in the hands of Another, One Who is far more creative, witty and funny than us.   Even...

Purposed to Worship

FC8B1BD6-0990-471A-814A-0E788D0265E3
We all know the very famous song; "It's more than a feeling"  and we've all joined in singing it at the top of our lungs playing some serious electric air guitar. But after 4 and a half weeks of being in training at Global Expeditions, these words have developed significant new meaning to me...   After a very emotionally active day, we had a nice worship set up for us, fairy lights and all the necessary things to create a nice "vibe". And I loved it, ybecause I was excited for wanting to feel God's presence because the right atmosfeer...

live a life of risk

5933EDC2-33BA-44A2-A9AE-7988F3C6388_20180719-024948_1
When you are rejected or life gets hard, what is your first reaction? I’ve realized mine tends to be “why me” or “when will it get better.” Recently, I have been challenged to trade my questioning for more faith- to stop and ask God for MORE BOLDNESS. Whether someone has hurt me repeatedly or what I have to say is pushed aside and rejected, I am provoked to press in and ask God to empower me with His Holy Spirit and to actually ask for MORE OF HIM. I don’t want to live a life of passivity, but one of...

Across the Sahara

I'm writing to you from Saint Louis, Senegal! The journey here as been phenomenal. To get here we had to cross one of the harshest environments on earth: the Sahara desert. In my mind I always thought of this leg as one of the more difficult parts of this year. And it wasn't easy. It required quite a few miracles and a lot of prayer. Let me summarize the challenges of this journey: 1. Between Dakhla in the Western Sahara and the Mauritanian border there is a 320km stretch across the desert without public transport. 2. Getting your visa for...

Hungry Egypt and saying goodbye.

Hungry Egypt and saying goodbye.
Date: 07 March 2009 Place: Dahub, Egypt   Our time here in Egypt came almost at an end. It was a wonderful experience, meeting some great Egyptian people, learning their culture and understanding the Moslem religion. The last few days we also discussed how to approach Moslems and to show them in their own Koran that Jesus is the Way and the Absolute Truth! What struck me most about the Moslem people are that they extremely hungry for real and authentic friendships. One of these people I've met, was a man I started to chat with on a bus in...

Go forth!

Go forth!
Genesis 12:1       “The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your   father’s household to the land I will show you.” This verse fills me with mixed emotions because as I read it I realise God tells us that "He will show us the way", but first He asks us to be obedient and "Go from our country and our father's household"...Wynand and I will be part of the Global challenge 2012 team and we invite you to join us on this journey! Soli deo Gloria! Donate Now          ...
