Awaiting instructions in Nepal

So we arrived safely in Nepal yesterday, but there is a great story (testimony) about how we got here... We we started planing the Hidden World journey in the beginning of the year, the idea was to go to New Zealand in September before going to India. That unfortunately was never in budget, probably because God had very different plans. So arriving in India on the 7 September we had 3 ministry points (all being orphanages) to chose from and where we need to go for the month of September. We started praying about this and the evening when I...

The reason and the destiny (part 1)

Indonesia: 258 million people spread over 13 000 islands and the reason I joined Global… Generally speaking I have a rule to not build expectations but rather approach every situation with an open mind and teachable spirit. Unfortunately this was not the case in terms of my view on Indonesia. I have never had much interest in travelling to the east so when my attention fell on Indonesia one night while praying, I knew this country was special. Since that evening more than a year ago, I have not been able to shake the idea that God wanted me to...

FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF CHALLENGES

the-start-of-global-challen.jpgThe fun and games started when the five Global Challenge X teams were sent up from Pretoria to Zambia in a challenge.  It was a tough one to start with and I must admit that I was a little concerned about this but luckily I had great co-workers to make sure I don’t feel too sorry for the team and do send them off.

A dream guides us

That night Detlef had a dream that someone needed help driving a blue Land Rover all the way to the Mali border and that we agreed to help- which solved our transport issue!   We weren't sure if we needed to take it serious or not, but in any case would have to start moving. So we decided to take a local bus to the first big town on the road to Mali, which was Kaolack, 200km's from where there.   Our Senegalese bus was soon packed to the rafters and became quite unbearable. To make things worse it broke...

Thought on fasting

I can't believe it went by so fast. Last weekend we were at the Bloemfontein prayer meeting where over one MILLION people came together to pray for South Africa. What a amazing experience. You could feel the unity! But it doesn't stop there. We need to become a praying nation. We need to keep praying for our country. Fighting the battle on our knees. But before road tripping to Bloemfontein the community decided to do a Daniel Fast. To be honest I didn't really get the Daniel Fast but I did decide to fast sugar, dairy and meat. The fast...

It's NOT about me...

Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur I was super excited to move on to Thailand... Not even a 14hour train ride would've been able to put me down... I wanted to visit Thailand because I wanted to see the beaches, I wanted to have Thai massages, I wanted to scube dive, I wanted to buy cheap clothes.

Great expectations missed

For 4 years I dreamt about doing an Explore Africa journey – fighting with the Lord every time He said “no”. Finally for 2012 He said “Yes”. During 2011, probably one of the hardest years of my life – a year intensely faced with my own iniquities and the iniquities of others – I heard Him say “Yes” to a number of things.  Some of those things did not quite turn out the way I heard Him, others started with great excitement. I said yes to lead this year’s Explore Africa journey, yes to dream about the future of Explore...

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly

Sometimes the birds need to leave the nest, well not just sometimes. It is a given. Birds are bound to fly, soar and poop on people to make their day interesting. Jeffrey's is like a nest for me, not in a passive "safe" way, it was just the place where I could grow and now it's time for them to kick me out of the nest.   Flying, doing what I was called for and learning how to use what is given to me, like my wings. Leaving a birth place, the place where missions was born in me, is...
