Philippines was definitely another country of breakthroughs and new beginnings for our team. We discovered something new about the beauty in creation, the Word of God and ourselves, while also growing closer to one another and the Lord! One of our host Pastors in Cebu was a quiet man but a great spiritual leader who is very passionate about sharing the love of Jesus. He came, shook and broke some of our ideas of what a life of ministry looks like. While on Olango Island we experienced God at work in everyday life. We saw how He sustains us when we...

Wow ! A lot can be said about what I have experienced the past 17 days relating to traveling, moving out of your comfort zone, living out of a backpack, humus and pitas, sleeping in airports, buying stuff, losing stuff and ... how God manifests himself in all of this. Yet it is the difference in cultures that fascinates me the most. One can get so caught up in a habitual way of doing things and even be so arrogant as to think that your way is the high way, that you completely miss fundamental characteristics of the GOD of ALL nations. This...
Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19 When I started my training at Global Challenge I was filled with excitement to travel and change the world for Jesus. Little did I know that I completely missed the point. In the last few weeks of training I was very challenged about the way I spend time with Jesus and whether I am really listening to His voice. After pondering on this thought, I came to the conclusion that I was planning on going to the nations, without Jesus. Like Jesus called the deciples to be fishers...
So my
heading might be a bit boring but let me assure this day certainly wasn't. In my book it's one of the top 10 best days of my life and so what if I'm only 22 and have my life ahead of me? This day will be engraved in my memory till death!
What a privilege:) Coming to Nepal I had quite mixed expectations as I didn't know much about the country( only about Mt Everest) but I also had amazing feedback from the team that had been there in the previous year. God truly came and taught me that his ways are higher than our ways and totally blew my expectation away. It all started with an unexpected 25 dollar per person visa cost upon arrival at the airport in Nepal. Immediately knowing that on a Global Budget it would be impossible in human terms to even pay for accommodation with...
The last few days of training has really been great! We have been talking about who God is. Firstly God the Father followed by God the Son with God the Spirit to come.
It was with a small group session talking about God the Son where we had to read 1 Peter 1: 18 - 20
God truly talked to me though this and showed me a side of Him I never thought about.
A happy and satisfied Global Challenge team put their paintbrushes and hammers down on Friday evening, after a week of intense sanding and painting to help build the GLA Ecocampus School in Jeffreys Bay. The Ecocampus vision: to raise future leaders with firm core values who will impact and serve their community and beyond. As part of our first big project, everybody got jobs allocated to them, from making food, to financial management, to raising awareness, to fundraising through sponsorships, "blikskud" and busking. At the school building site during the day we had the chance to develop our building skills,...
The Royal Way! God is the King of kings right? The Father we all knows has a Royal Way of providing for His Son's, Galatians 3:26-27. When I first heard of the Royal Way I thought ,"I shouldn't ask or even mention I have no money and expect my Father to give anonymously what ever we needed?" Hahaha CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! We were just walking around in a mall praying for random people when we anonymously received 3500 Baht (R 1500) it was more than enough for 4 people on a Luke 10 journey for 7 days, but it didn't stop...
One journey ended and another started. Guess that's the cycle. The new global challenge students arrived last week, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Thrown into the thick of it they'll be returning from their first camp with a new perception and some humility. Their lives already changed in unforseen and wonderful ways. God in the midst of it all. I also started this year in the thick of it. The 7th of January I started working at Global Leadership Academy, or GLA for short, it's a one of a kind school that started as an off shoot from Global Challenge...
