It's all about the lifestyle...

Greetings friends and family from sunny Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa! It's about time I wrote another blog so here we go!

 Southbound team 2011

What an amazing privilege to be a part of the Global Challenge team! Thankyou to all my supporters with their love, financial and especially prayer support during the past few months in getting me here- without you I would not be doing this year with God so thankyou so much!

I am done coping, I WANT TO LIVE!

As I sit sipping my Turkish apple tea and ponder on the last few weeks, I cannot but rejoice in the Lord! After visiting SA for six weeks due to pneumonia I rejoined my team and for the first time this year without a cough. I only realised once I was healthy again how long it has been that I have been sick... It is similar to when we live in sin, we never see how deep we are in it until we are free from it and look back to see how far we've come. God's intention for us,...

Just Be

img_5696.jpgSpending hours, days and even weeks in small dusty towns in China. Walking past thousands of lost souls, hundreds of struggling beggars, all Dieing! Looking into their eyes and the tears start to flow. I have no way to communicate, no way to bring them the Truth. Bring them Life!

Luke 10 -Day 3

Luke 10 -Day 3
Normal 0 We took a shuttle bus to the next town, Escuintla.   At the drop off point we sat in the sun and waited…waiting is very hard work if you are not sure what you are waiting for! Marisa and Herman went to call the man from the bakery, but there was no answer.   We tried to catch a lift, but to no avail. Marisa and Herman went in search of the man’s house and the rest of us stayed with the baggage. Eventually a man came and sat down next to us and we started chatting about...

West Sahara,gateway to the North

The past week we've been traveling from Morocco to Senegal.During our trip since Tiznit we've had a quite an adventure. Our stay in West Sahara was amazing as we were welcomed by friends, which not only encouraged us, but also gave us the chance to pray and minister to them. We ate camel meat, for supper and watched a video clip on how the west Saharan people live in the desert. The desert culture is quite unique and it is said that there aren't any believers. The vision for West Sahara is to keep a foot in the door between North-West...

HanGing In there for 3 weeks now:)

HanGing In there for 3 weeks now:)
It's not that bad- really- you just need a keen sence of adventure. China has been AMAZING. I was able to get a camera when we left Malaysia - so I thought I'd put up a photo blog:)   Leaving Malaysia we made lots lo friends on the train- though the train trips can ger very tiring- and the trains are usually jam-packed! Our team won the last challange and were able to go eat KFC- and we met a brother- it was really cool.     In China we had to catch a 32 hour train to another province the next morning. The hotels were...

Walking down memory lane

Ola por favor! (Hello, please!) This is a common phrase used by Southbound in Brazil, mostly because we just don’t understand the language too well!

They say pictures are worth a thousand words and speak louder than words (or is it actions).  Well, either way, pictures capture the action…   So, without further a due, dum-dum-dum!  (That’s the sound of drama)  Presenting (for your viewing pleasure):  A short, Yellow team photo montage of Ubatuba – Brazil.

Red team Luke 10

Red team Luke 10
Our Luke 10 expedition began on 23 August 2011 from Lisbon, Portugal. The red team consisted of Frikkie de Beer, Carmen Ann Lombard, Christopher Griesel, Nelmari Smit and then there was a new member only for Luke 10, named Samuel Vogel. Samuel's parents are missionaries form Switzerland in Portugal, Mem Martiens where we served for three weeks before Luke 10. Our team prayed and asked God where He wants to send us for Luke 10. There were several words and pictures that came up in our prayers, but we didn’t get a specific place where God wanted to send us....
