Hitch-hikers guide to Central America

Hitch-hikers guide to Central America
Start and El Salvador The 6 days of travelling down to Panama and a staying in Panama turned out to be a very interesting time. It started with a 6am pick-up from Panajachel to take us to the TICA bus station in Guatemala City. Due to some saving in Guatemala and wanting to get to Panama as soon as possible to meet up with Elsabe we managed to buy bus tickets to San Jose in Costa Rica, the country next to Panama, only leaving us 800-900 km to hike and one border crossing in stead of the full 1700-1800 with...

Training

Just an update on a few things that happened during the rest of training. It's hard to tell you what stood out for me, because when I think about it, every teaching, conversation, situation and project had a certain impact on me during  this time of training. I can't really admit that any one meant more or less for me than the other. Since my last newsletter we did the Veritas 1 Bible study coarse, we had many mind-altering teachings from different speakers, we had a ladies' (and men's) weekend where we discovered some radical truths and enjoyed the company...

I am Speechless

I am Speechless
We didn't plan anything for Mexico. We didn't do anything to ever deserve anything. It was literally just being obedient to what God told us to do. We came on this year knowing that we want to serve. We wanted to become the least, as Jesus did. But instead we got encouraged for what we are doing this year. It was really like: I am only being obedient. And they were like: you are being obedient!!! Actually I wish being obedient to God was not so much unknown to the world. Why are we surprised when Christians are being obedient?...

Freedom!!!

Whats one thing I've overcome this year? This is the question I was faced with when preparing to leave Benin for Togo. Asking this question has caused me to look back at all the lessons I've learned though this years journey. Training ended with me learning that I can hear Gods voice and that He does talk to me. In China, Nepal and India I began learning how to spend time with God and rest in His presence, a lesson I am still now learning. In Thailand through going on a Luke 10 journey with nothing but the clothes on...

Thailand

Wow, God really did a good job when He created the earth. Thailand is the most beautiful and amazing place I have ever been to. The people are the friendliest  I have ever met . We started a week ago in Bangkok, with the word challenge, we split up into two teams, the red team and lime team, I was assigned to the lime team. We had to do a list of activities before the next day when the race ended in Phuket at 8 in the evening. The road was tough but, we eventually arrived before the red team, but we...

God's attention to detail

I should probably start of by telling you that we did paint Meagan Fox's house, as I stated on Facebook. But where the idea come from that it is the Meagan fox from Transformers, I am not sure. hahaha oeps.

The life changing part of Canada for me thus far, is when we set of on a semi Luke 10. We are hiking North and with a loop going to the camp where we will be working for a while. In the beginning we got a few easy lifts, It didn't take lang for us to start making good process. Until one stage we waited for a while. I remembered that people have told me stories before, about asking God specific things and make a list of what their needs were. So I wanted to see how much attention to detail God has in my live.

John 14:13 (ESV) Whatever you ask in my name, that I will do, So that the father may be glorified in the Son.

Life after Global

Life after Global
I was part of the 2012 Work your way team and it was amazing an all that. The thing that got me by surprise was that my life after a year on GCEX didn't just stop. Maybe it is only my life, but it still feel like I am on one of the journeys. I might be back in South Africa but its like it is a new country part of the journey. It is just different people that in need of a savior and love.   God is opening doors for me that normally didn't open. It is just as crazy as...
