I could not keep it in.

Just recently i have found new encouragement through my brothers story of his life changing experience with God.    And i can say truthfully that i really needed this.  I feel revived.    At the very beginning of the year i knew that things back home was not at the place God intents it to be and i quickly realized the reality of it all when i visited home after 2 months of  training, just before departing on the year long journey at the beginning of March.    The situation back home was like this; relationships where not quite ok...

Goerillas,camps,and fences
Hello from Bogota, Colombia!     Wow! I know it has been a while since i have been able to update you personally on how i am doing, but i really want to now!   So far, it has been a journey! From the time that i set foot in South Africa i hit the groun running. I was busy taking in a new culture, meeting new people, and learning things about God and experiencing things about Him that i never have before. After taking flight in March and landing closer to home in South America, i have definitely been...

Latin America Round Up

As the year goes on, I started to reflect on the first half of our journey; on the things we did, experience, and learned. And felt it only fair to write a short blog about it.

A Journey of Heart Recovery

August 30th 2011

Hello everyone, i have that growing desire in my heart to share the daily adventures that are taking place in my life in this amazing community of Jeffreys Bay. Even though i have been staying in basically this one place for months now (which in itself is such a big challenge for me!), it's like i am still traveling and discovering every day. Facing new challenges, deepening relationships with the whole spectrum of people making this community alive: from the "Global guys" to the high school teenagers, the kids in the location, some of the surfing crowd, the homeless people and street kids and members of the local churches…and from carrying on building up on the several commitments i have taken at the Global Leadership Academy to the new projects and visions that are coming along the way.

Today was such a great example of what is happening on a daily basis.

I start the day by going to the teachers meeting at the High School, that takes place at 7.30 am. This morning i had the chance to share a few pictures i took during the "Great Trolley Race" that happened this past week-end at the Fountain Mall. The students had their weekly assembly meeting, which is the time for them to receive all the latest infos about the school and all the activities happening outside of the regular classes. It's also a good time and opportunity for the teachers to speak into their lives.

We then had scheduled a time together with PJ, we went for a coffee and the main purpose was to pray in pair for the homeless people we are seeing every Tuesday nights when we do "Church" together with them in the street. But this time with PJ this morning was actually our first time really spending time with one another after the 4 months i have been here. It's like we could never "connect" until today, but we had a lot to share and it was really uplifting for me. It seems like he went trough a lot of the same stuffs i am going through now and we also have a lot of similarities in our personalities, including a common passion for the youths and sports. But also a strong desire to share our Faith in non-religious and fun way, remaining authentic to who we are and how God made us to be.

Hitch-hikers guide to Central America

Hitch-hikers guide to Central America
Start and El Salvador The 6 days of travelling down to Panama and a staying in Panama turned out to be a very interesting time. It started with a 6am pick-up from Panajachel to take us to the TICA bus station in Guatemala City. Due to some saving in Guatemala and wanting to get to Panama as soon as possible to meet up with Elsabe we managed to buy bus tickets to San Jose in Costa Rica, the country next to Panama, only leaving us 800-900 km to hike and one border crossing in stead of the full 1700-1800 with...

Let's go on an adventure!

20180315_080126
We arrived in Kenya at the olkoroi camp after a entire night of pushing 4x4 taxis through mud and over hils. The meaning of Olkoroi is Colobus monkey in the Kimasai Language. The camp got its name because it's located next to a river and the monkeys are commonly seen from the camp's viewpoint.   After about a week the leaders decided to do a split sothat the guys can go for a hike into the forest, and the ladys can have some bonding time aswell. We set of with our small bags with only one pair of clothes and...

WHAT A PRIVILEGE!

 by Marisa Fourie

Even though this phrase has been said so many times, it can never be said too much.  This is indeed what I’ve been experiencing up to now and every day I come to realize it more and more.

Bring them closer to Jesus

Bring them closer to Jesus
Dear friends, One of the most valuable things I have learned from GCEX, is the meaning and understanding of discipleship. We are currently sharing food with non-believers as a way of discipleship. We have shown and shared the love and care of Jesus Christ by opening our home to people, and giving food or help to those in need. We also shared our hope and trust in the Lord, and we witnessed how people are brought one step closer to Jesus. We call it……DISCIPLESHIP.

What is the distance between the practice of Luke 10 and the lives of those who want to live a life dependent on God?

What is the distance between the practice of Luke 10 and the lives of those who want to live a life dependent on God?
A ccording to the teachings of Jesus in Luke 10, from the 21 st till the 29 th of August, we left Kusadasi (Turkey) without money to spend, nor any scheduled place to stay in, relying only on God’s provision and guidance. It was without planning and firstly, island of Cyprus , appeared only as a joke possibly because it would be the farthest, most hidden and where we could get to only with the providence of God. However, we started feeling God’s prompting through several evidences that were being shown to us...

Freedom!!!

Whats one thing I've overcome this year? This is the question I was faced with when preparing to leave Benin for Togo. Asking this question has caused me to look back at all the lessons I've learned though this years journey. Training ended with me learning that I can hear Gods voice and that He does talk to me. In China, Nepal and India I began learning how to spend time with God and rest in His presence, a lesson I am still now learning. In Thailand through going on a Luke 10 journey with nothing but the clothes on...
