Fadwa*. Our first visit was two weeks ago to a highly pregnant Fadwa. Today we hold a little Maria in our hands. Perfectly formed. The little hands are a picture of perfection. Small knuckles, small nails. She clasps my finger, barely fitting her fingers around it. We are sitting on UN mats - a grim reminder of the brokenness and realness of their situation. But for a moment, the hurt and the ugliness of humanity fades in the glory of new life. In the beauty of creation. And Fadwa is a worthy mother, her circumstances forgotten. She walks with her...

Oh God, how You have blessed us by being able to go to Jamaica and meet some of Your wonderful people! How lovely it was to experience You in the beauty of Jamaica. We as a team will always remember the great time that we spent there and we will never forget all that we have learned from the Jamaicans. Here is a short summary of each team member's Jamaican experience: [video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu7i0HipneU&list=UU3A8KS5f6WFU3zG2OSxVV_A&index=1&feature=plcp 400x300] Linel Coming from the Cayman Islands to Jamaica, felt like we travelled all the way back to the heart of Africa. I never thought...
"You opened up my ribs and played your melody, when my brokenness was all I saw in front of me..." So, I broke my arm. In Colombia. Playing soccer. Can someone say Waka Waka? Since that first night in casualties I've been comforted by God's promise that it is part of His plan, that He wants to use my casualty for a greater Kingdom reality. Having never broken any bone in my body despite some perilous adventures and other silly games on roofs, you have to be convinced of God's hand when this happens on my journey of...
When we listen to Jim, Floyd and even Joe they always hammer on the principle and importance of obedience. And even though we agree with them, yet we struggle to enforce it personally, corporately and as a discipline to others. What we need to realise is the true importance and gravity of obedience and the massive role it plays in the kingdom of God. We’ve not spent time thinking of that much. Heb 5:8-9 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he...
2 Cor 12:9 & 10 says, ¨My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. I will boast gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ´s power may rest on me. I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong .¨ Something that I have learned in the last 2 weeks of our journey is something that will stick with me throughout my life. In these 2 weeks, I have been challenged beyond what I thought was my limit! I thought I could no more......
What an awesome 2 weeks!! We left for Coffee Bay the 12th of Jan and slept over in PE at Stoffel's cousin, who blessed us so much!! When we arrived at his house we were given an amazing hot meal, we watched a movie on the biggest screen I've ever seen, and then slept on real mattresses with plushy comforters!!:) We got up bright and early the next morning to meet up with the rest of the team and "blikskud" to get to the Transkei and God blessed us so much!!! In the few hours we were standing there we...
Ethiopia is calling! After the good mid-year holiday we traveled back to Addis Ababa where we were to meet up with the guys who are running the most amusing rescue operation preventing infanticide. It was in two days time that we were to travel down to Jinka, a place where an evil ancient practice called Mingi is still in effect. This is a belief that any child who is born either with defects or a peculiarity will bring an omen to the community or village. Therefore, the only way out is to kill the mingi as to prevent...
