Let the blogging begin!

Hi there wonderful people! So as we are now officially on our global challenge (am actually sitting in Qatar airport near  Saudi Arabia),  and it has been about  7 weeks since we actually started, I thought it was about time that I maybe introduce myself and kick off the blogging madness…

Turkey where it all began…….

Turkey where it all began…….
What an experience we have had both as a team and personally during our time in Turkey.  It was the country we have been in the for the longest amount of time but also the country that felt as though time flew and I would have happily stayed longer given the chance! So Istanbul was hot and humid and a little too much for the senses to cope with, but our reunion with the half of the team that spent July in Croatia whilst we were in Bosnia and Herzegovina made it all worthwhile.  We had so many stories to...

Peru Questions and Answers

Peru Questions and Answers
"Missions within missions." There is no better way to explain Peru. We were in Peru for a month. It started with a boat from Colombia to Iquitos. We went from Iquitos to Lima to the Juncun to Farrenafe to the mountains, Incawasi, to Farrenafe to Lima to Cusco to Machu Picchu to Puerto Matarani to Arequipa to new country: Chile. I think it is safe to say we travelled in Peru and that we had many different ministries and ways of serving. We had school ministry, a church was planted, preaching, school programs, programmes for teachers, dramas, songs, teachings. Even...

The Compass of Life

3b47b1576589b67d316951391d28b5e6
Greetings my King.  Thinking back on the life changing things that happened during the year, mesmerized with the feeling of nostalgia as I project myself back to those beautiful places where life grasped me by the hand and tugged me into the divinity of His beautiful creation. I look back to the times where I learnt to appreciate the smell of fresh air, the sound of birds chirping, glorious white gold and feeling cold without an air con. Times like these.  Adventure and a lust for life developed within the deepest parts of my entire being. The passion of being...

A Church was planted...

ouma-nhokoteni-in-her-new-k.jpg29 April 2008

As I was tightening the last screw on the lock I just put into the door I saw “Ouma Nhokoteni” in the corner of my eye sitting on a chair in her kitchen. She was talking to two ladies I have never seen before in Red Hill.

Moments earlier she invited these two strangers into her new home and made them some fresh tea. Interested in what was going to happen next, I continued to fiddle with the lock.

Taking notes from an experienced campaigner! (wYw)

Taking notes from an experienced campaigner! (wYw)
Today felt like a real Cape Town winters day.  We woke up at 06h30 with the sound of rain on the roof… and it was still dark outside.  Welman and De Necker were loving this and missing their Cape homes very much.   Last night we arrived in the little town of Langkap and because Ps Silvanus was busy ministering, we took the 30 – 40 min walk to the village where he stays.  He put us up in a large room and we even got mattresses and pillows.  What a blessing.  Last year’s team slept on straw mats, so this...

Team blog: Jamaica, land we love

Team blog: Jamaica, land we love
Team blog: Jamaica, land we love Just for interest sake, the island of Jamaica is about 10 000km^2 (which is roughly half of the size of Gauteng alone). There is more than 400 different denominations of churches and it's therefore no surprise that it's known in the Guinness Book of World Records as the country with the most church buildings per square kilometer. Jamaica is described by its people as a "melting pot"  of different cultures and people groups that came together on this small island to become one. All of these facts had a definite impact on our ministry...

Run to finish THIS race!

In the race of life, specifically this year of GCEX, we start off with so much excitement and enthusiasm. You’ve prepared for this as best as you could.   The trigger of blessings is pulled and you give your first step. Hey, this tempo is quite comfortable, even thought the route is not always so clearly indicated. While running, you get some forks in the road and make your choice. Sometimes you’re down, sometimes you go up. Sometimes, many times after a long downhill, you hit a dead end and all you can do is turn around – run back...
