God of detail

Being part of a Global Challenge team on the road is such a different experience when you are just visiting than being one of the actual team members.  I have to start from scratch to get to know the guys when they are well aware of eachother’s virtues and vices.  They are a bit tired and in need of some rest and I come to them with a tremendous amount of excitement and energy.  They are familiar with noodles and oats every day and I am not anymore… for obvious reasons.  A challenge indeed. My focus is on the team...

What happened in Ethiopia

What happened in Ethiopia
When we say 'pioneering Ethiopia' we do so because that is exactly what took place. We arrived in Ethiopia with nowhere to go, nowhere to specifically serve and nowhere to sleep. After being chased out by airport security we recall sitting outside in the parking lot weighing our options. We could either set up camp across the airport in a field or risk our low budget by sleeping at a hostel in expensive Addis Ababa.    We went with the latter option. So we found ourselves praying and seeking the Lord that we would do His will and that He...

Project Jabulani Park succesfully completed!

Project Jabulani Park succesfully completed!
Hello!   To all who expressed support through prayer and finances we are priviliged to inform you that Project Jabulani Park was successfully completed on the 10th of February 2011. As Explore Africa team and the South Bound team we had an incredible and meaningful time with the children of Coffee Bay Christan School. Together we managed to build a jungle gym, dig a sand pit and put a fence around the school. When we were not busy working we played with the children and could just give them love. Furthermore we had the  oppurtunity to share the Gospel to the kids, wash...

Born to be a Peruvian Kingdom builder!

Greetings friends and family from Panajachel Guatemala! We have begun our next ministry stage in a new country, and although we have only been here a couple of days, Guatemala is one cool place! Lake Atitlan on which Panajachel lies, is surrounded by beautiful mountains and even a couple of volcanoes, waiting to be explored I might add! I am so excited for what God has in store for me and working through me here in Guatemala, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing in all areas of my faith through different teachings from the local pastor, working projects and building team relationships. We shall be working in smaller groups on different projects in the area, with the intention to rebuild /fix / relocate a number of homes that have been affected by recent mudslides, which are very regular occurrences in this area.

Reflecting on the last month it is with great joy that I wrote this blog and share about my time and experiences in Peru!

And on the Siberian front...

Привет! After 3 INTERESTING days on the Train from Moscow, and after sleeping in 197 different positions in a bed that is designed to be exactly 15cm shorter than anyone sleeping in it, we arrived in Krasnoyarsk (Красноярск). What a joy to meet up with a host of Russian friends - with most of whom we had but facebook or email contact for a decade! And even more joy to see that God has been working mightily in this place, and that He is truly busy bringing His church closer to Him. Glory!  A hectic pace, though, from the moment we...

My 2nd "blog" YIPEE

My 2nd "blog" YIPEE
A very good hallo from Yaounde, the capital city of “green” Cameroon! It has been a shock to our system. Coming from the Sahel and the dry poor Niger to the green pastures of Cameroon. The saying “ the grass is not always greener on the other side” has become a fake not true saying... it is greener! thank you Jesus! After the dry hot weather we are having an awesome time and God is providing in many great ways. Thanks for all the prayer all over the world. We are seeing the fruits and the blessings of...

What a privilege!

What a privilege!
As I was looking out of the plane's window as we descended upon Greece... The sun reflected on the sea, the islands stretched out as far as I could see. The light was red golden and the clouds surrounded small patches of land - it was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen... In that moment it truly dawned on me for the first time, what we as Northbound is going to do this year, and what Global challenge has been doing became a reality! Up to now it's all been too good to be true! But now it is...

Imagine Jesus being enough

To my beloved fellow believers and fellow workers in Jesus Christ.  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ Take a moment, forget where you are, what you are busy with and imagine with me Imagine not being worried about whether your shoes go with the color of your shirt Imagine not being worried about the Guess/Levi label printed on your jean Imagine you had no DKNY or ChanelNo5 perfume to put on this morning Imagine not having a wardrobe to put your clothes in Imagine not having a room to call your own...

The Golden Calves in Cambodia...

The Golden Calves in Cambodia...
'Come on,' they said, 'make us some gods who can lead us. We don't know what happened to this man Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt (land of slavery).'... Then Aaron took all their gold, melted it down, and moulded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed, 'O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt and slavery! " - Exodus 32 - This was written thousands of years ago and might seem ridiculous - how could people just decide to make...

Brazil - God Doesn't Need Google Translate!

Everything that the Holy Spirit taught me just during our first week in São Paulo, Brazil, can be condensed into that one sentence: God doesn't need Google Translate. He really doesn't!
