mzuri sana

After a great weekend of intense preparation, we are finally on the Island of blue beaches and white sand where locals are still enslaved by Islam. The  first weekend was devoted to getting to know the Zanzibar and Islam context, getting to know one another, preparing ministry like a dance and puppet show and mainly making sure that everybody is spiritually ready for what is coming. I know that this team is handpicked by God and it is amazing how well we work together. One theme started with the planning of this journey and continued to surface during the weekend:...

Thailand in 10 pictures!

Thailand in 10 pictures!
Philippians 3:8-11 8  Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him , not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may...

Venezuela and the hairy coconut

Venezuela and the hairy coconut
Just 2 days?? When I think back I can't believe it was just 2 days that we were in Venezuela, so much happened. The story starts on the bus, the 11 of us got on the bus to Caracas (Capital city of Venezuela) round noon on the 12 May not knowing anyone there or where we are going or having the right papers and the situation as described in the “The next step??” section of the previous blog. http://www.gcex.org/participants/latest-blogs/entry/fred-euvrard/colombia-v2-5-santa-martha.html   Then some of the team starts speaking to some of the other passengers and found out that the there...

My worth?

As I stood knee deep in the Picific Ocean of Thailand I asked the Father for a new revelation of the cross. God answered in an unexpected way by speaking words of identity and encouragement over me, leading me to write the following: Because of Jesus and not because of me, I make this statement. All of the following is scripture based: I am perfect. I am flawless. I am blameless. I am so beautiful, Jesus has to look away. I have no condemnation anymore, but rather total feedom with no bondages. I can boldly draw near to the King...

The start of a pilgrimage

The 6th of March marked the beginning of our journey. We flew to Sao Paulo (Brazil) via Doha (Qatar) and overnighted at both airports. On the 8th we took a bus from Sao Paulo to Ubatuba. I can only say that I got a new awe for the beauty of God’s creation. It is truly as if a part of Eden can be seen in Brazil.

Project Jabulani Park succesfully completed!

Project Jabulani Park succesfully completed!
Hello!   To all who expressed support through prayer and finances we are priviliged to inform you that Project Jabulani Park was successfully completed on the 10th of February 2011. As Explore Africa team and the South Bound team we had an incredible and meaningful time with the children of Coffee Bay Christan School. Together we managed to build a jungle gym, dig a sand pit and put a fence around the school. When we were not busy working we played with the children and could just give them love. Furthermore we had the  oppurtunity to share the Gospel to the kids, wash...

What happened in Ethiopia

What happened in Ethiopia
When we say 'pioneering Ethiopia' we do so because that is exactly what took place. We arrived in Ethiopia with nowhere to go, nowhere to specifically serve and nowhere to sleep. After being chased out by airport security we recall sitting outside in the parking lot weighing our options. We could either set up camp across the airport in a field or risk our low budget by sleeping at a hostel in expensive Addis Ababa.    We went with the latter option. So we found ourselves praying and seeking the Lord that we would do His will and that He...

Born to be a Peruvian Kingdom builder!

Greetings friends and family from Panajachel Guatemala! We have begun our next ministry stage in a new country, and although we have only been here a couple of days, Guatemala is one cool place! Lake Atitlan on which Panajachel lies, is surrounded by beautiful mountains and even a couple of volcanoes, waiting to be explored I might add! I am so excited for what God has in store for me and working through me here in Guatemala, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing in all areas of my faith through different teachings from the local pastor, working projects and building team relationships. We shall be working in smaller groups on different projects in the area, with the intention to rebuild /fix / relocate a number of homes that have been affected by recent mudslides, which are very regular occurrences in this area.

Reflecting on the last month it is with great joy that I wrote this blog and share about my time and experiences in Peru!

God of detail

Being part of a Global Challenge team on the road is such a different experience when you are just visiting than being one of the actual team members.  I have to start from scratch to get to know the guys when they are well aware of eachother’s virtues and vices.  They are a bit tired and in need of some rest and I come to them with a tremendous amount of excitement and energy.  They are familiar with noodles and oats every day and I am not anymore… for obvious reasons.  A challenge indeed. My focus is on the team...
