As we were driving through a small town in the Himalaya Mountains I stared out the window at some beautiful Indian women dressed in their traditional saris. They were walking graciously through the street, chatting and buying local products. Still cautious enough to pull a small boy away from a moving vehicle. The striking color and patterns of their Saris drew my attention, but there was something else... something that fascinated me, or rather disturbed me. While I was staring at them I realized they had no emotion or expressions on their faces. No smile, no frown and no reaction. The...
Today was our first real travel day on this leg of our journey. After a 6 am wakeup, corporate prayer, packing and cleaning, we left Reggae Backpackers. We only found out that today that Adam, the landlord, is also a Christian and we had a quick chat with him and blessed him before leaving. We decided to travel light and left all our big bags in storage. No sleeping bags, warm clothes or any luxuries. Just the necessities. We took a train to get out of the city and started hitch hiking. At this point we split into 2 groups...
Back into my history... I grew up in a loving family which consist of my dad- Kobus, mom- Liza and sister- Danelle. I couldn't ask for more, Mom and Dad worked hard all their live to provide for me and my sister, wish they would retire and have time to enjoy life. Anyway I always knew the Lord, in the way most people know Him. He exist and I went to Church but never had a relationship with Him . I was in the world, experimented with everything and lived to have fun and to see how far boundaries can be pushed. Because of me,...
Today was our last full day here in Phuket and we used it to reflect on some of the events of the past 4 to 5 weeks. We leave Phuket tomorrow morning early to hitch hike down to the Malaysian border and eventually to Kuala Lumpur from where we are flying to Melbourne, Australia. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, we had visitors on Friday. Lauren, a GCEX family member from the States was among them and during our time of worship, she made me realize again what this was all about. We got so trapped in the "we need God...
Our time here is great the Lord use us in diffrent ways. My high light here was the time at the "kinderhuis". I just loved it so much that I want to go back there and just stay there. One of the little girls just grap hold of me and did not want to let go. It made me realise that when we hold on to Jesus we must not let go of Him He will hold you and keep you safe. We help the paster out with jobs that need to be done this side and it is so...
Welcome to the lime teams journey to Egypt. What an interesting and different culture we experienced here. Our first couple of days was really cold and we thought that Egypt will be extremely hot. We fist visited the beautiful place called Anafora. This whole place was build around symbolic bible themes and how exciting and interesting everything was. From the waters and the buildings they all had certain meanings. It was a wonderful place just to spend in God's presence and see the beauty of the desert. These photo's show some of the beautiful places...
This story started a few kilometers outside London when we met Seraniah, the owner of the campsite's Thai wife. She told us about her small ministry for abused girls and also that they are in the process of building the first church on Koh Chang Island. The Lime team was sent to the island to build - literally and spiritually. We can't claim to have built a church, for the need was a small building next to the church: a male and female toilet!...
"Sanctıfy yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you." (Joshua.3:5) While we were still in Israel the North Bound girls prayed together to ask God His will for our last days in Israel. Most of us felt that we wanted to spend some time alone with God seperated from the noise of the outside world. We talked about ideas of just entering the desert and spending time with God there but God had other plans. We were so blessed by going back to Anafora to spend some...
