Global Challenge Missions Blog Archive: These are real blogs, from real people, bringing real change...
The last month we were shaped and formed from young people moving in all different directions into a young family united in love and fired up for the mission. We learned what our personalities are and how we can support the body so that it functions properly. All this thanks to the great leadership of Global Challenge allowing God to lead them. Two weeks ago at 5 o'clock we were woken up and had to pack up all our belongings. We were then divided into groups and given a paper with about 20 challenges on them. We all spattered into...
Guatemala a time of sharpening the Sword, by Johannes Wagner We have been prepared to be prepared ... Prepared for Guatemala prior to going there and prepared in Guatemala for the rest of the journey... If we went nowhere except Guatemala, our lives would still have been changed! We had an ACTIONpacked, ADRENALINEpumped, HEAVYduty, HIGHimpact time in Guatemala. Our viewpoints were challenged, our perspectives broadened, our insight deepened, our capacity expanded, our lives were altered. We received Word, Truth and authority – we had an encounter with our King, an appointment for an anointment ....
I cant even begin to contain the truth about God's faithfulness and the joy that it has resulted in!!! And this is only the beginning... Let's consider gold: if we look at a gold alloy, from the outside it appears to be genuine, real, but within it's is has many other substances added making it hard, difficult to shape and ultimately worth less. Pure gold, however, is soft and pliable and worth a small fortune. To purify an alloy one would need to grind it to a fine powder, add flux and bring it to the boil - at such a time...
As part of our mandate to reach impoverished areas in the world we have a strong mission to look after orphans. Thus one of our ongoing projects has been the consistent investing into the lives of orphans in India. Over the past few years significant amounts of energy and funds have been ploughed into two orphanages in India that GCEX has a special relationship with. Despite this some parts of the orphanages are in serious disrepair and need urgent attention. In September and December this year two teams are preparing to leave for India on an Impact India expedition. During...
What a wonderful feeling to be back in “civilization” after 2 months. Clean streets, western food and a clean, soft bed. This was my first feeling after arriving in New Zealand at the end of April. “The West” however was not without its own challenges. What we gained in comfort and familiarity, we lost in lenience though. After touching down in Auckland, we had to go through customs and this is where our excitement was halted for about an hour. While Ivan and Darko were taken to one end of the customs hall, Stoffel and I were escorted to the...
I sat in the church last night and remembered a dear memory. He left me with a smile on my face! It was the day the HeartCore team and I had to testify in a church in Richards Bay. The well trained group nearly fell down the steps as they tried to get Otto in his wheelchair on stage. At first Otto had shaky hands to introduce himself. It was after the first laugh from his audience that he nearly kept them busy for the full 10 minutes of the service we had. It is unbelievable how God can choose...
So my bag was stolen... . Why would God do this? I thought He looks after us and our stuff and that everything always works out for the best if you trust Him... But, sometimes we just miss the entire picture and get it all wrong. For the past two weeks Cornie and I have been waiting in Addis Ababa for my passport and God just had it all planned. We went to a local international church and saw Ethiopia stretching her hands to God. We met the Pastor after the service and Cornie felt led to ask him about...
"What we do, does not define who we are. What defines us is how well we rise after falling." It has been a while since I've seen words come to life in such an inspiring way. Rwanda is a beautiful chapter in this journey. So beautiful that there aren't any words to truly express how much influence it has had in my own thoughts and especially my relationship with our beautiful Saviour. I look forward to more chapters with you in it. You have taught me so much. Not only about your people but also about myself. I loved spending...
Hi everyone This is my first blog after leaving India and I now find myself in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I love the fact that every McDonalds has free WiFi. So, as I mentioned, we left India behind with a sad heart. The kids at the orphanage grew on me as time went on and by the time I had to leave, they had crept deep into our hearts. The amount of love that they are getting and the amount that they need are two different things. This is not a reflection on the efforts of the staff, but just what...
