The beginning of my Journey!

Back into my history...   I grew up in a loving family which consist of my dad- Kobus, mom- Liza and sister- Danelle. I couldn't ask for more, Mom and Dad worked hard all their live to provide for me and my sister, wish they would retire and have time to enjoy life. Anyway I always knew the Lord, in the way most people know Him. He exist and I went to Church but never had a relationship with Him . I was in the world, experimented with everything and lived to have fun and to see how far boundaries can be pushed. Because of me,...

You, the school of the nations

You, the school of the nations
To you, the school of the nations   This is a thank you. Or an attempt at acknowledgement. To the countless faces and people that I have crossed paths with in the past few years.    I once heard a sermon of the way that we are rocks on a river bed, being tossed and turned and swept downstream. And as we bump shoulders with one another, a forming takes place. God determines the length and the depth but still - we are formed in different ways by the people around us.   Words cannot describe the forming that has...

Rescuing Red Hill.

a-bou.jpgAs we arrived the fire fighters where still around. Extinguishing what
was left of a blazing fire that raged through the bottom camp of the
Red Hill community. As we walked through the camp there was the
lingering smell of burnt households and livestock. We where just
overwhelmed by what we saw. The hole bottom camp was burnt to the ground. People had lost everything. We asked a  resident, if anyone got hurt? He replied, no, that the fire happened when most people were at work.

The Gypsy chronicles part 2

You can take the gypsies out of the suffering program but you can never take the suffering program out of the gypsies… We need to explain the term ‘suffering program”. While in Niger a Canadian missionary friend heard what our budget was and that we would not be able to afford air-con in the 45 degree Niamey heat and thus referred to our team as the suffering program.(This term needs to be said in a thick Canadian accent).Traveling on a shoestring budget in Africa has taught us to be VERY resourceful. You know like taking enough sachets of tomato sauce at...

Then the word of the Lord came to me and said: Who do you think you are? My response was!

Wagon maker. The Almighty Yahweh has called me as His son, established me as a rock and planted me as a fruit-bearing tree. He has lifted me on eagle’s wings, therefore I will run and not grow weary, I shall walk and not get tired. Integrity is the aim of my game, with fear and respect for Yahweh and others. I will run from evil. I will live for Christ and be seated with Him with love, joy and peace in my heart. I am baptised in the Holy Spirit. My word is my word. I like to be holy...

FUSA- celebrating new life!

FUSA- celebrating new life!

am currently sitting in Colombia writing this update surrounded by sounds of a river and jungle. We are at a mission base of New Tribe Missions which is on a Finca (farm) on the outskirts of a town called Fusagasuga. What was once a place that was robbed of its life because of guerilla warfare is now a place that is filled with students and families that have all dedicated their lives to the furthering of God's Kingdom in unreached tribes in Colombia.

Tata ma chance Tata ma millions

Tata ma chance Tata ma millions
A 24 year old girl has recently discovered after years of living in "poverty" that she won the lottery at the young age of 10.   She never checked her bank account to see how much she was actually entitled to. She was living like all the other people around her, according to the standards of her immediate reality. She did not realise that she was actually free from the rules she had made for herself. She was free from a life dictated by checklists that everyone around her was striving for. She had it all along but she just...

God's day

God's day
Sunday, the Lord's day.  And what a marvelous day we had.  We didn't go to church or spend heaps of time in the Word, but we did experience God in more ways than one. In the Basson's house where we are residing, Sunday is a day where you can start slowly.  We got up at only 9h00.  Some of the guys watched the Bulls/Cheetas game and then the Man U/ Barca game untill the wee hours of the morning.  The late rise was then a geat blessing to those. Each one had his own quiet time accompanied by the usual coffee. ...

Awestruck

Awestruck
Awestruck by a Holy Creator God   There has always been something about the Amazon that enthralled me. As a child I dreamed of going there but that was all it was, a very far-fetched dream... So imagine my excitement when I learned that our journey will take us right to the famous river and forest. In the airplane on the way to Manaus I was already blown away by the sheer magnitude of the river from above, just to realize that it is only an artery of the big river! To add to the excitement the plane literally landed...
