Imagine NO FEAR...

(I wrote this while we were in Bosnia i Hercegovina in July 2007)

 sulene_059.jpg

Being faced with some major decisions about my future, a friend has asked me one simple yet complex question:  “What would you do if fear did not influence your choice?”  And of course this question has started one of those major thinking cycles in my head.

God creates, delivers and heals

God creates, delivers and heals
It has now been more than three weeks in Guatemala and what a wonderful time it has been. Arriving in Guatemala we traveled to Panajachel where we would spend all our time in Guatemala. This is a small tourist type town right next to the huge Atitlan Lake, surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. With friendly Maya/Spanish people, great food and just a really relaxed island kind of feeling in the air! God also blessed us with a great Hotel/House where the whole team stays. This is really great as this is our first time since Zambia that the whole team...

God, our Father and Provider

During the year, we get to know God in many ways. God being god Father h been quite a theme for Northbound our team has really been blessed in abundance, but I would like to focus a little more on how God has just been so specific in my small personal needs.  It started off in India, our second country. I was really in need of a new day bag. I wanted to buy one in Nepal, but then decided against it, but God knew better and was in control and it was no surprise that our gift from the...

Amor Cuba

Amor Cuba
Even though we have left Santiago, Cuba over a month ago, and new memories and visitors have filled our days, I think our whole team keenly look at pictures of Cuba and just smile. The kind of grin you give when you find a childhood picture of yourself or when you see an old couple share an ice cream. I think this update is so overdue, due to the fact that describing our experience in Cuba is as wonderful, complex and diverse as the country itself. For starters, Cuba is a communistic country, but as our Cuban friends explained to...

My God, the God of the impossible!

I was sitting on the beach, on the last Sunday before we would head back to Tanzania to fly home after 8 months in Africa when it dawned on me. I have made it. Wow, by Gods grace I have really made it. Me and my team have traveled all the way through North, West and East Africa, through 13 countries to our current destination in Pemba Mozambique and we can say we have made it.   For some of you this might not sound like much but for me it truly is a great work of God. Seeing that...

Today We Serve Nations!

Today We Serve Nations!
NEPAL, Katmandu, this is the ground on which we start our journey and what a journey it is going too be!  First there are some things you should know about Nepal. There is the occasional power cut, pigeons flood the rails of rooftops, smog covers the foothills and hides the mountains from sight, the pollution a causes some locals to wear masks and prayer points and stone idols are spread  amist the dirty, the strike is over and the streets come alive with cars , motorbikes, bicycles and people. Oh the people the wonderful, beautiful people of Nepal. I think I...

Sounds the call to come together...

Sounds the call to come together...
Sounds the call to come together, and united we shall stand.  It is not every day that I get to experience larger-than-life movements or moments. I remember 2 weeks ago when Dawid made the announcement at our weekly celebration meeting: "the community will embark on a 10 day Daniel fast, in preparation to one of the biggest gatherings in our country. Join us if you wish. And also, we are praying for peace, unity and salvation for our land".  I looked around as the girls who were clearly thinking the same thing... fooood!? Whyyyyy!? Noooooo!!!! So we started day...

DAHAB! is DA BUSINESS!

We had a wonderfull time in Israel filled with spiritual highs and lows! Living in Palestine (Bethlehem) and serving in Jerusalem was a very enlightening contrast to our expectations! Debriefing in Dahab has been such a blessing! Warm weather, beautiful snorkeling just off the shore and fellowshipping and interacting with locals! Great nightlife, beautiful scenery! and just the vibe is so amazing! Taking time to grow into a closer relationship with God and spending lots of time in His word is very needed and a blessing! I was very pleased to meet Bush Bush, a guy who owns a shop...

The secret life of Walter Mitty

The first time I saw this movie I thought it was ridiculous. Who would merely dream of adventure instead of living it? And why is the possibility of unemployment the motivation to get out of one's comfort zone? The second time I watched the movie, I re-examined my own life. I always considered myself adventurous: in eating habits, hobbies and always saying yes to silly scenarios. I have traveled the world and done some pretty cool things. But it is only now, while on a shaky bus through the mountains of Nepal on the way to a remote village that...
